Callie, he's absolutely adorable.  And yes, Charlie ... you certainly did hit the doggie jackpot - BIG TIME! Congrats to all of you.

ooooo Yipee !   I can't wait to see more pictures and hear his stories.  This is so exciting for all of you and how wonderful for Charlie to land in such a safe place  Smile

This is exciting news, Callie!  I know the benefits of this new relationship will be huge and will go both ways.  Charlie will bring you and David as many positive things as you will bring him.  I can't imagine what his family is feeling having lost what they did and give up their family pet on top of everything else -- but they can take great comfort in knowing he's in the very best of hands in terms of love, affection, and stellar care!

I've heard of an airline that is for pets -- I can't remember the name, but it must be the same one.  I think it's an awesome business and so cool that someone started it.  It's worth the expense to know your pet is safer than he might be stuck in some cargo compartment where who knows what can happen with temperatures, turbulence, etc.

I agree with you about the "originality" (or lack thereof) of his name, but I bet you'll come up with some great nicknames very soon.  Can't wait to hear them and hear more updates after you bring him home!

The gal who has been fostering him (RAine's neighbor) has been fabulous.  We've gotten the written note from the former owner transferring ownership to us, and the Vet Certificate is completed (his titers were all good).  So at this point we're just waiting for Tuesday! LOL.

David and I will leave here Wed a.m. -- an of course he just got notice that he has to be at work at 4:00 a.m. for a software trial Wed a.m. *rolling eyes* but he won't let us be late.  And the good part is, Charlie's arrival time is mid-afternoon so we'll miss all the worst traffic (which near Ft. Lauderdale/Miami is ghastly)

Side note:  I pulled out Charlie's scent towel again this moring **after** the girls saw me starting to pack (I want to be able to just "grab and go" Tuesday a.m. cos I've got a dr. appt Tuesday nite).

I told them the usual "in 3 beddytimes Luna, Tink, Mom 'n Dad are going to get Charlie".

Luna wanted to sniff the WHOLE towel again ... unfold it please Mom?

I looked at Tink and saw the Tinkerbell SCOWL.  The one you get when the subject of "change" comes up.  Don't wanna -- NOT gonna!!

Tink -- *without sniffing* WENT TO THE OTHER ROOM!!!

I almost cracked up.  This isn't huge - in fact it's a *good* thing.  I knew Luna "got it" when the scent package came (she has memory of Tink's towel).  But Tink was just "all excited" as the pug usually is about most anything.  So I knew I had more 'training' to do here to smooth this.

The fact that Tink registered "CHANGE!!!Lightning " and the pug temper surfaced a bit.  So Luna and I continued talking a bit and I put it away.

An hour later Tink and Luna were curled up on the futon so I brought out the towel again.

**THIS** time she was fine.  It gave her time to process this -- and Luna was again eager to sniff as well.  This time the towel got sniffed ALL over by both.

    Both dogs were happy.

*smile* The pug is just a dog who is not super flexible.  So we switch things up on her ALL the time.  We make her change her places to eat, sleep, and habits in general.  Once she gets accustomed to an idea she's fine.  But she's not one to embrace change JUST because it's "oh boy something NEW".  Billy was always up for an adventure.  Luna is always "up" for playing nurse dog.  Tink is ... learning.

But this is WHY that scent box thing is such an incredible idea.  Bonita of Bwana (the one with Ridgies) is the one who gave me this idea back when we got Tink.  It is INCREDIBLE to pave the way for all to get along.  That "sleep scent" thing is incredibly powerful.  Tonight and tomorrow night I'll let Luna and Tink each have a turn sleeping with Charlie's towel.

    Bonita you are AWESOME!!!!

He is a cutie! Good luck with him.

I cant believe I go away for 1 weekend and miss the unveiling Wink

Charlie is aorable.  I have some friends her locally that had a Grand-dog King Charles they dog sat everyday.  She got where she could not stand not having one of her own to stay with her at night so now they have 2.  Both go to work with them (they own their own business) they have special beds in the back and they have "their" chair in the reception area.  No one enter without stopping to greet them both.  :)

I remember the scent box with Tink and how awesome that worked.  I have mentioned that to lots of people that were getting ready to adopt.

Cant wait to see and hear more about Charlie....   '

Note to Luna and Tink:  How exciting that you are geddin a new brother!  Luna you will have to tell Tink about how you and Billy and the sweet ole lady dog knew she was sick and waited for her to come join the family.  She will be fine as soon as she knows it's ok and there are more ears to suck on, like nice long furry ones :)

He's adorable! And I love the name Charlie. Smile

Me, too!  Not a dumb name at all!

Edit Whoops, just saw that he's a Cavvy.  One of my first students was a Cavvy - so stinkin cute.

    • Gold Top Dog

Awwwww, congrats to Charlie oh & your new people too.  Safe travels!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, Charlie for ANY other breed would be great!  But I wouldn't call a female Brittany "Brittany" nor would I call a German Shepherd "Shep".  Know what I mean?

Newest "glitch" -- With the President leaving LAX it screwed up a bunch of flights and they couldn't leave LA on time.  SO ... his flight has now been delayed an entire day.

I'm having the girl from Hounds Town pick him up as scheduled tomorrow (the foster mom has changed her schedule SO many times) and he'll be boarded at Hounds Town on Long Island for one night (and bless them, they are comping us that).

So we put off OUR arrival by a day.

This is making my poor brain tired

    • Gold Top Dog

Congrats!  I'll bet you can't wait to meet him.

Haha... there are so many Cavs named Charlie. If he is a true cav, you've got a nice cuddly guy coming your way. He should be excellent for therapy dog work.

I know I can't wait to see him and all the new activities of daily living you guys are going to teach him. Is he here yet?
    • Gold Top Dog

I can't wait if I LIVE LONG ENOUGH.  *sigh*  This is the second time they've changed the whole darned air departure date.  I'm glad my boss is flexible!! LOL  AND I'm glad La Quinta was too LOL

NOW we pick him up Thursday.
