It seems that Wrigley pee has the perfect amount of fertilizer. In the spots where he pees (not poops as I had suspected) our new lawn (sod not too long ago) is lush, green, and growing significantly more than non-pee areas. How interesting!
When my son lived by us, we used to notice that around the brown spot that Ollie killed, the grass grew twice as long and green,,,and that is because there was probably just a little urine going there,,,and it acts like a fertilizer. Fertilizer can kill out your grass if you put too much on and don't water it also. But on my grass,, the spot just turns brown and ugle.
You guys are lucky if you can just leave the spots turn brown and now worry about others.... I live in a cluster home development, and really just own a tiny couple of feet around our house,,the rest of the grass is actually association grass and I don't have the right to ruin it for the others that live here. And as I mentioned,,,my son just got into trouble where he lives with Ollie. He lives in a town house development..has a patio with a privacy fence on the back. He ties Ollie to the back when he as to go, and Ollie had burned out almost the whole entire area behind the privacy fence. The association told him he had two weeks to dig it up and replant. Not sure what would happen if he didn't do it though.
For us its kind of worse because we are talking Great Danes in a small area... they pee a lot and there is just a small amount of area they walk on, so when it burns out spots,,,its like the whole yard! So its worth it to me to keep water on hand, and not make people mad along with I feel that I have no more right to ruin that grass then I do to let dog poop sitting there all week.
