Buddy -- cuddles aplenty for you!

Cathy -- you've been in my thots all week -- *gentle* hugs all around.

Jackie -- you don't have to admit to nuffing til ALL the cards, gifts and congratulations are in!

Steph -- hang in girl -- sometimes you just gotta be tough

Tina -- deep breath and hang on.  Wally tells *me* it's ok, but I'm well aware that the color has to "sit" LONGER now than it used to -- so I've warned Wally that in another few years I'll have to just LIVE there! Either that or he can adopt me!

Good luck, Cher.  Remind Mom you've learned a lot from *her* which is prolly why she calls you the Evil one??  You both have hearts.  Your Mom's is just bigger than most -- and it's not a physical abnormality either!!

I hope everbuddy has a nice safe, shakeless day -- and safety for all in the storm's path.  I'm just praying something nudges Irene WAY east so we can all sing "Good Night Irene"

I've been making tortillas all day so far LOL! I think I have it pretty darned close to how I want them now..I am proud of myself. It's always intimidated me, making tortillas but sometimes there's no other way to do things than trial and error. I like what I got this last time...so WHEE!! My abuela and my Mom to a lesser extent can do it, and now so can I :)

It the middle of the first week of school and today I am not going down to lunch with the kiddos to give them a mommy free day. Elias prefers when I'm there but now I know who's in his class and how they're handling lunches this year I can be a bit more at ease. I dropped off Eli's earmuff dealies yesterday with a note on when/how he'll need them, pretty much just for fire drills. End of this week I will be emailing the Principal to see who I speak to about getting another ARD to discuss what if anything would change for Eli if I had him eval'd again for Autism...I don't want to do it if he'll not be mainstreamed as much as he is now...but if it offers some extra help I do want that. So we'll see! We have a new VP this year so it'll be interesting to see what she's like.

Hope everyone is having a good week thusfar! Hugs to all that need them :)

    Hugs Cathy and Buffy.

Sending stay safe thoughts to all of our East coast friends.  '

One of the girls in our office has a beautiful voice.   She was talked in to entering a statewide talent search.  We went to watch her in round 2 last night and of course she was awesome, she has been chosen to move on to round 3.  Yea!   Some of you may remember her she adopted Chloe, senior Lab, and sweet Maverick who is now the cutest little 5 month old little boy.  Round 3 is on Sept 12, we are hoping she is successful with this.  Being an older woman myself, there were dreams I never pursued, I hope she can pursue hers.

    Have a good day all!

Rex is such a good dog.  He's always good at the vet's office and is loved by the staff.  This morning as I was standing at the front counter paying the bill, a little Beaglet came out of the exam area with one of the techs.  The beagle pup's owner said his puppy had never seen a dog Rex's size.  Puppy was quite intimidated until Rex reassured him that he wasn't going to eat him up. lol  Rex laid down and waited for the pup to approach and then gave the puppy some nuzzles. The puppy was so cute and climbing on Rex at one point.  So puppy leaves with owner and in walks a couple with a huge parrot of some sort in a big cage.  They set the cage down about three feet from Rex.  He never took his eyes off the bird but made no move toward the cage. I'm not sure why the woman chose to sit so near us as there was plenty of room for her to sit on the other side of the room.   Glad it wasn't Belle.  lol

I do feel sort of a glow today. Wink  Probably sunburn.  LOL!

Cathy, I'm so sorry about Buffy and what you and your DH are going through.  I didn't see that news story but I'd be the same as far as being hard to stop me from getting my dogs and the kitty.

Deb, don't you have people for that?  :)

((((Hugs)))) for Cathy, Mr. Cathy and Buffy.

I need to get busy and make an evacuation plan/places to stay for my parents in case they tell us to get off the island. (The news just talked about 125 MPH winds. We simply do not need that, thank you very much.) Mom's on oxygen full time so it would be better for them to be on the mainland if we're going to lose power for days. Of course, there's probably little chance in h-e-double hockey sticks that they would actually leave...

I got a lot done for work this morning, so I'm off to take Sinbad for a mid-day walk.

Hugs for all the humans and pups who need them.

And that definitely takes priority!!!!  Trust me, I know!

Gina - when you figure out the recipe, let me know.  I have always wanted to try tortillas, but was always a little nervous.  I think its the masa...never worked with it.  I make homemade pasta all the time so maybe its kinda similar.

Called the school district today just to make sure Riley is on the their list to call once school starts...public schools don't start until after labor day here.  They of course had only 1/2 the information and what they did have was incorrect.  I went nuts!  Seriously, this is my kid's life we are talking about here, I will be damned if some idiot who can't take down my info correctly is going to delay her getting into a program!  The lady talked me off the ledge and assured me that someone will get in touch to start the evaluation process by the 2nd - 3rd week of September.  Kinda makes me sad seeing all my friends' kids getting ready for school and such and we can't even get excited for Riley yet since we don't know what the status will be.  She had a really bad day yesterday in speech therapy and in general too so I guess that's why I am having a pity party.

I want it to be Friday already!

    Take care everyone!

I think we need a massive group hug.

Kate - I hope you don't have to evacuate and if you do, it goes smoothly. I can't imagine what it's like to not know what to expect in the coming days.

Lisa - I'd feel just like you do about Riley and school starting. Hopefully it'll all sort out quickly and you'll be pleased with the placement.

I had to go get something out of my car a few min's ago and couldn't believe how hot it is. Today actually feels like a Sacramento summer day - ick!

Cathy, im so sorry :( we are all thinking of you and sending stay strong vibes as well as hugs.

I cant believe they wont let people in to get their pets. There would be no way i would stand for that. I would get to my house somehow, someway.

I hear music outside the hotel. Wonder if theres a concert going on at olympic park. I might have to check that out! It seems the humidity has returned to the south though. Blech!

Yikes!  I'm glad I wasn't on "recovery duty."

(((Hugs))) Cathy.  That's such a heartbreaking decision to have to make, but we all know you'll make the right one at the right time.

I saw that fire in Lincoln on the news last night.  Did they ever say how it started?  Apparently there's something like 30,000 gallons of propane in that tank but all the other tanks around it have close to 500,000 gallons.  If it explodes before it gets put out, the damage will just be incomprehensible. It sounded like the evacuated the entire town. What in hell-o makes them think it's safe to store that much explosive matter in such a small space?

All you guys waiting for the hurricane, stay safe!!

I saw that fire in Lincoln on the news last night.  Did they ever say how it started?

I was just reading up on it and they said it started when they were inspecting it Confused. There was also a picture of an animal control truck and it said they were taking people in to get their pets. I was glad to see that but doubt I'd have been able to wait this long. They've got a plan to try and cap it or something and if they do, it'll be out tomorrow. I think there's 4800+ people that have been evacuated and I'm sure they're hoping it doesn't take 2 weeks to get this fixed.

I shared a link on FB for east coast equine evacuations. It was pretty cool to see people offering up their land, stalls, etc. to anyone who might need it. It's time like that when I really see how valuable technology and social media can be.
