Note to self, do not eat 2 Fiber One bars within a 12 hour period again...

Way too freaking busy here this week and today. My new boss took off some of this week and all of next week and left me with a bunch of stuff that needs to be cleaned up. Fortunately, the new 2nd in command person is awesome to work with and funny too.

Karen - I've been daydreaming about remodeling my master bath more than ever lately. Mine is probably just a bit smaller than yours and the tub is butted up against the wall, so there's a double vanity beside it. I really love the arrangement you have though. I think I mentioned it before but did you consider those recessed mirror/medicine cabinet thingys? They look nice and still allow for all the little stuff to be put away.

I read the CaringBridge journal this morning and Susie mentioned that for the first time, Owen asked where Hannah was Crying

That's a hard lesson to learn.... or should I say soft.

I hate Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC more than I have ever hated anything - and the best part is if I want health insurance they are the only ones in NC that can sell to an individual.  So do not tell me you don't want health care reform - that comment will get you a guaranteed explosion by me

Lisa I stop buying fiber one bars because the situation with DH was unbearable

Cathy we didn't really consider that - we have a dedicated closet in the bathroom for linens/etc. so didn't feel we needed the additional space and DH fell in love with some mirrors from Pottery Barn - he earns his Mr Martha moniker.

The plumber installed things but the second shower head isn't working - DH is distraught.  They'll come back Monday to work on it because they may have to remove a tile Indifferent

I have so much to do and I am on hold with the evil BCBS of NC - the phone call is now approaching 40 minutes.  It is the 10th call I have had to make to them since mid-July, each more frustrating then the last.  This person wants to make it right, good luck with that

I love Pottery Barn too and had actually checked earlier and they also have the recessed mirror/medicine cabinet. I'm envious that you don't need them though. DH and I both have so much little stuff that we use every day and putting it in a drawer would probably be too messy.

Karen - if you don't mind sharing, how much is an individual policy? I'm going to lose benefits when I retire/go 1/2 time next summer and I will probably go on DH's benefits but I'm curious what it costs.

OK get ready to die laughing...translating a story from DH since I am still at work

Dh and my brother took Riley to Chuck e Cheese for lunch (its like a kid play thing with games, rides, etc.).  So she is on one of those jungle gym play things with all the tubes and nets, etc. and they are watching her from the outside.

All of a sudden my brother says "hey there's a naked kid up there."  Yep, you guessed it, it's Riley.  She must have had a accident and decided to take off her clothes since they were wet.  This is the point where the guys must have looked like the three stooges (well 2 stooges) trying to get into the structure made for little kids and get her clothes changed, etc.

Thank goodness they brought an extra set of clothes!!!  I am still laughing my hiney off!!!

omg Lisa!!! That is so funny to imagine. Riley will appreciate that little gem of a story when she's older ;)

     lol Riley!

Cathy, I've been trying to keep up with CaringBridge too. It's so heartbreaking, yet inspiring at the same time.

Going to back track to the directions thingy.Stick out tongue

I am pretty good with North, South, East, West.

But I do not know where old man miller lives!

Around here you get a lot of :

You just goes down the road here a ways till you get to old mans millers, then you take a left. Go down the road till you get to the broken oak, yall take a right at the oak tree. So on and So on....

Thing is some people actually get it .

Lisa, that's too funny!  As for the Fiber One bars, I love them and don't ever have a problem but then I've got the gastrointestinal fortitude of a goat. lol

Karen, it sucks when one company is allowed that sort of monopoly. They have zero motivation to provide good service.  We're thinking of changing our group plan at work to BCBS.  I'm the plan administrator (I change hats often, lol) and I hope the service or lack of, you're experiencing, isn't the norm.  Sad

I was just talking to a friend in another town in Texas.  He owns some rental property in the area where a huge natural gas fracking operation is going on.  Many people are making a killing off the construction workers desperate for living quarters.  He said he's fixing up some of his properties and raising the rent a little.  He's a retired heavy equipment operator and traveled the country working construction sites and he said he knows what it feels like to get taken advantage of like that.  He's a good guy. :)

Jackie - for what it's worth, we have BCBS here too and have since I've been here (7+ yrs). I've had nothing but great luck with them. Granted, I haven't had to deal with the customer svc part of the company but I credit that to things just running smoothly. If I have to go on DH's plan, I'll go back to Kaiser and I had no problem with them either.

Cathy, that's good to know.  Meant to say earlier that I can't imagine hearing Owen ask about Hannah. Crying

Amy, we get those sort of directions in rural areas here all the time. I used to travel the back roads of Texas a lot and have been lost more times than I can count from those kind of directions.  Turn left at the old Smith place, just past the crick.  Watch out for the road washout, if you get to where the road turns left, you went too far. lol By then, you're in the middle of nowhere with no one to ask directions. :(  My friend who recently moved outside a pretty small town in TN tells the funniest story about the locals getting them lost on purpose.  They still had their Texas license plates and were fair game. lol

Can't wait for Tiki Bar time.  Big Smile  TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA, Amy, I'm stealing your siggy line. :)

I always love it when landmarks that used to be there are included in the directions. "Turn left at the corner where the red barn used to be back when old man Smith owned the place..."

Our island Firemen's Fair is tomorrow, but I have to be on the mainland all day Sad Maybe I can get back on an the first afternoon ferry. It's the major fund raiser for our volunteer fire dept. and is kind of fun. Northing fancy, but some good food, etc.

Thinking of Owen and his family every day.

LMBO!  This is what happen to us when we moved to Arkansas.  Hubby came first to look for a home in the country for the family.  There is not a straight road anywhere in NWArk.  Hubby would call me at night worn out and he would say.....they told me to go 20 min til you get to where Farmer Brown's old barn used to be til it burned down in the 60's then follow the dirt road (path with grass growing down the middle) and turn right where the dairy barn is, (what the heck does a dairy barn look like?) go 5 min to the old oak tree....  LOL, we grew up in Tulsa, there were streets that were alphabetical north and south and numerical east and west.....  what ever happened to miles instead of minutes?

We have now been here for 26 years so we know our way around but those first few years gave us quite a laugh.   BTW if you are coming to our house and you go past the red barn with the smiley face you have gone tooo far :)

Cathy, I would guess that it was mixed emotions for the family knowing that Owen is now well enough to ask about his sister.  The Johnson's are in my daily prayers as well.

    Is it Tiki time yet????

ETA: BCBS is a bad word in my vocabulary......would never want to have to depend on them ever again!

I've made and used quite a few maps in my day and STILL get lost when i'm in a car!  I usually use the clouds for direction.
