Seriously?  When I see the amount of money some of these folks get "back" (often more than their entire taxable income) and mostly because of numerous kids..........I want some of those qualifying childs!

I've done foster care, and it is heartbreaking.  The federal mandate is to reunite the biological family, and dang, some of those parents shouldn't have a stuffed animal to care for, forget a child.  I had to stop......just tore me apart too badly.  At least with foster dogs I KNOW they are getting a good home and life.  Not so with the children.

Lots of thunder and rain still today.  We are so grateful.  Temps have dropped 20 degrees since last Wed when we were 112.  The boys dont like the thunder, hubby is home with them, as long as he is close they are ok.  We have had to use that special Scaredy dog pill for Hot but we didnt want him medicated all the time so we are using them at night only.

Texas friends, it looks like some of todays weather is going south so I pray that you get some too.

It is amazing how friendly and happy all of our customers have been since the rain started, everyone's attitude's are much better.

Sinbad that's a good doggy...Rocky is getting pretty good at "leave it".  He is a varmit hunter, I dont mind him hunting but dont want him eating them.  Sometimes he gets soooo focused on the varmit and I cant see what he is stalking, "leave it" is what I used to break the focus.  It often takes more than once but that's ok, at least he  knows the command.

    Have a good day all!

I'm dragging today too and thought about calling in sick but didn't think that'd be a good idea with the new boss in town. I got here and new boss called to say he was going to work from his hotel until his afternoon flight Sad

Buffy wasn't doing well last night and after having to clean up her poop on the patio 2x and wash the pee off another time, I was really frustrated. She just doesn't have the energy or maybe it hurts too much to walk all the way out to the grass much anymore and it's not her fault but it makes for a not so fun evening, especially when DH is working.

I'm having lunch with a friend today, so hopefully that'll perk me up and if not, I think I'll head home early.

I woke a groggy as well. Had a restless night due to too much walking yesterday. My friend is doing a pilgrimage walk in Spain this September and has been dragging me and Buddy along on her training programme. The 2 1/2 hr walk yesterday, obviously made an impact on my old legs.

This morning I had to cut my walk short and go do battle with city hall.  We are trying to have a tree removed from our yard. It is diseased and is growing over the roof. The problem is you have to get city approval to remove trees on private property. Of course being the city nothing is free. To apply for a permit is $100. Then you need an arborist's report approx. $250 and depending on the cities assessment a tree replacement charge anywhere from $1500 - $2500. Add the cost of removal ($1,700) and we are into some serious change. I showed up with pictures and a sob story and HALALUA! I got an exemption. With all the money I saved my DH I am expecting a nice weekend get away to the Aguwa Cannon - any one of you Michigan girls been there?

I've never been to Aguwa - I hope you have a nice time.  Yay for the exemption!  I understand not removing all trees, but what a rigamarole (sp?).

We're interviewing here so I'm busier than a well-digger's behind in July (as my Grandpa used to say LOL) -- I'm actually impressed at this point we've gotten several really decent choices!

Julie -- remember that "flat fox" you sent us??  All of a sudden that has become THE TOY -- Luna has discovered that if she shakes it or tosses it in the air that the PUG will come play with her (from anywhere in the house).  Then they tug it a bit and both of them endeavor to 'shake' it at the same time.

This is quite the change from Luna who never used to TOUCH toys -- suddenly after 7 years with us is playing (and toys are always scattered all over the place - it's not lack of opportunity).  Somehow now minus Billy the two of them are re-defining how they play.  I think also the fact that it's been so danged hot has changed everything -- they just can't get their energy "out" outside so there's more "in the house" play going on.  But it's pretty danged funny to see the basset/beagle yank the pug's chain for a change LOL.

[edited because I'm finger impaired and I can't spell beagle. *sigh*]

So so glad today is my day off.  Still in my PJs just hanging around the house.  A much needed day off after this week.

Sorry but I need to vent somewhere. It begain Monday morning when I had to go to the dental ER because I split my tooth in half eating a boneless checken brest...yeah really.  The fracture was so bad that they had to pull/ drill the tooth out of my mouth.  I should have just taken the last two days off but went to work anyway.  So Tuesday night, some people came to my work to fix our floors and set off the fire alarm with their shop vac. Three huge fire truck show up and about 20 guys with hammers jump out ready to break in the shelter and save all the aniamals.  I had to explain it was just dust.  So it was a hetic night with a crowd of people from the dance studeo accross the street watching and me just trying to re-group. I came into work the next morning (wednesday) and I get written up for something a co-woker of mine didn't do. Because I'm the manager I should have seen this but in the cauous of the night I didn't check to make sure all the cages were cleaned properly.  A girl I supervized left a cage full of poop in the surgery room and the vet found it that way in the morning and just about freaked out.  There was no animal in it but it would have been used for a recovering dog from surgery if they had not caught it beforhand.  I felt so horrable for this, it's not something I would do and if it had not been a strange night already and me with a painful mouth, I would have caught it.  So now I have a disiplnary write up on my record even though the girl admitted it was her who forgot to clean the cage.  I know I'm the manager and all and should be responsible but that was a little overbord to write me up and not the girl who did it.  I so need this day to just relax.

The office bathroom is DONE!!!  Yes!  Need to sweep and mop, but that's nothing.  There is a TON of wasted space in there, so I cleaned up a metal shelving unit and put that behind the door, then hung the brooms, mops, dusters. etc on each side, and put bathroom supplies and cleaning stuff on the shelves.  And, I managed to do the entry alcove.  The only thing left to do there is the office door.  I didn't do that today on purpose since it wouldn't have had time to dry.  Will do that first thing in the morning so it can dry.  I'm so pleased to finally have the bathroom project finished.  Turned out to require more repairs than I expected and took longer, but, now it's done.  Opps, still have to put the curtain back up that required THREE trips through the washer to be clean...and it's brown to begin with!  LOL!!

I think I've earned a very relaxing evening.  Maybe even a trip to the tiki bar.....

Tina, do you think that would fit into my healthy eating choices?  lol

Maybe if you used "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter" and fried it in canola oil.  Wink

OMG! deep fried butter. Why would people eat something like that? Is there nothing North American's won't put in their stomachs?

Ava is not really ailing, she got spayed, she is doing very well, thanks to this forum I took the dreaded e collar off and put her in a onesy.  So we are both doing good now. *S* Now if my DH would just stop telling me what to do, don't play with her, don't pick her up up so much, etc. grr I will soon need a 2x4. lol  He who does not feed her, walk her or take her out to wee.  All he does is play with her, Mr. nice guy.  oh well, he is a good guy he really loves her.  I've been sick myself for over two weeks now, laryingitis for over a week now.  Voice is back this morning, but very crackly.  Feeling a bit better and hope to at least get out tomorrow to the health club, I need some fresh air.
