LOL at pigpen - my friend's welsh terrier is pigpen, whew that dog loves to be filthy and tries to remain filthy and stinky at all times Stick out tongue

Mindy we tried poking additional holes and making the holes larger but there appears to be a surface tension that winds up keeping the water from going in the holes, sigh.

My father-in-law was on the beaches that day - in the English force but there will all the allies.  He never talked much about it, he was a very quiet man and just sort of mentioned it casually to DH one day.  Everyone involved was extremely brave.

Mindy very glad that your grandmother is doing better

Paige I am with you in regard to ticks, shudders.  Hate the things and I am not someone who gets the heeby geebies about insects.

I really think I need a certain piece of software but it is ridiculously expensive and there is no way I can buy it at the moment so if one of you wins the lottery can I have a loan or a gift?  Thanks

You betcha!! and I'd send you some calming vibes if I could find some. Stressed out myself lately and not sure why :(

I decided to work 1/2 day today and have to say that not coming in until 9:30 rocks. I'm sure I'll feel the same when I get to leave at 2:30 too. I'm glad I didn't take the whole day since it's once again so dark and gloomy that you want to turn lights on in every room. Today is the last day in the forecast for this weather though and it'll be sunny and 80ish thru Sunday. That means I can get out to the rescue this weekend and play with some horsies, doggies and kitties - yay!!

Happy Monday everyone!  Mine started out rocky as usual.  Devin seems to know it's Monday as well and is always really cranky on Monday's but today and this past weekend was exceptionally worse in the mornings.  She doesn't want to go potty after she gets up and she is dry so I know she needs to go, plus she is doing the pee pee dance, doesn't want to get dressed or brush her teeth or pull her hair out of her face....it is such a battle and I HATE starting my mornings with a fight!  She is such a drama queen on top of it all and there are mass hysterics!  She lost TV priviledges for this evening so I am sure it will be a horrible evening too but I have to stick to it so she will know I am serious when I tell her she will lose them if she doens't do XYZ.  At least she sweetened up once I got her dressed.  All that made me forget to close the doors on the dog crates and I remembered once I was at work on the other side of town.  I ended up going home to close them since the contractor was senidng a made over today and I don't want ANY reason for them not to be able to clean my house!  :)

Then I met my mom at the oncologist.  Apparently her chemo is only showing a partial response.  So now they are changing the plan.  We met with the radiologist last week and they are going to now do 5 weeks of radiation with two chemos during that time and she should hopefully be done.  It means she won't have another 6 months of chemo, but it will be an intense 5 weeks.  They are also changing her chemo cocktail to a more preferred drug that wasn't available when she had her first round in 09 b/c of some manufacturing issues.  Thankfully this round of radiation and the new chemo drug seem to have less harsh side effects than what she had before so hopefully after these 5 weeks, she can just move on with her life.  I am very hopeful b/c the radiation did it's job last time, and mixed with this more effective chemo drug, I am really hoping that is just what her body needs to really get rid of the cancer for good this time.

So I am a few days shy of a month from my due date.  I have a lot of work to do in my house over the next 2 weeks.  I hope I make it to my due date.  When I went last week I am already 50% effaced and dilated to a 1.  That doesn't mean anything other than my body is starting the process naturally which is obviously favorable, but I just hope my body can wait at least a few more weeks.  :)

OK, lots of work to get done and catch up on!  Good thoughts for those who need them.  I read through the thread this morning but can't remember who all I wanted to respond to so hopefully I will have a chance to come back later.

Sorry -- work is insane still.

Tina, Jackie, Karen -- feel better and hopefully more rested.  It just sucks to start Monday that way.  Tina -- did you get anything for your eyes to help?

Must crawl back into my hole but wanted to *wave* at everbuddy.

Yes, I have antibiotic ointment, thankfully.

Things must be looking up - I found a quarter on the ground on my way back to work after lunch.  That's half way to a Dove bar at Walgreen's this week. Smile

You went to work with conjunctivitis?   I always thought that stuff was really contagious.

It is very contagious, but I've been on the antibiotic since Saturday, so it is clearing.  Nobody really comes into my cube anyway.  I use my stun gun on anyone who gets within 3 feet of my desk - LOL!  I don't like people in my space.

Today is the last day in the forecast for this weather though and it'll be sunny and 80ish thru Sunday.

That's the best news I've heard today!! Right now it looks like another storm is on the way and I'm really tired of all the gloom and gray. I saw the funniest thing yesterday.  I was in a  neighbors front yard and there was a huge orange striped cat sitting in the middle of the sidewalk across the street.  A lady walked by with a little chi (off leash) and that dog did an about face and chased that cat that was about 5 times  bigger than he was down the sidewalk to the nearest tree. That cat could have turned around and swallowed the chi with one gulp.

My DVR cable box, which apparently has a much better memory than I do, tells me that *Memphis Blues* and *Hawthorne* are coming back on the 14th. - if anyone is interested in either of those shows. Smile

so a bit ago I looked out the window and a massive hawk was bathing in Bugsy's kiddie pool!  I didn't know what it was at first because it was BIG and wet.  Then I saw it flapping it's giant wings.  I went to grab the camera but it flew off

    • Gold Top Dog
Oh geez, Karen.  That must have been an incredible sight!

it was - I was completely stunned.  I mean who knew hawks would 'bathe' like a robin.  Makes perfect sense but I've never seen it in all my years Smile

You should have seen Bugsy sniffing his pool about 20 minutes later

I really, really appreciate this forum.  I think I just successfully talked someone out of getting her son a Siberian Husky.  Her son is just turning 18, lives w/her and their two cats, and their last dog was a Lhasa Apso they had for 16 years.  Um, no, a Siberian Husky is not for you if you've never trained a dog before and don't have any idea of their potential prey drive, and, and, and.  Phew!  I used this thread to help educate: http://forum.dog.com/forums/p/62571/499697.aspx#499697  Yes

Edit to add: HOW COOL, Karen!!!!!

    • Gold Top Dog
I hope you guys hit the upswing of feeling better soon! Youre not supposed to be ill this time of year ;)

My new job is really interesting.

I have a lot of things that i should be doing tonight, like mow the lawn, weed, clean, exercise the dogs, train the dogs, and so on but im determined to not do any of it.

A woman after my heart. :)

Karen, that's super cool about the hawk taking a bath in B's pool.  I've got a friend who keeps a baby pool out front for the deer and she has several vultures that come and bathe in it.  Ick!  She feeds the vultures meat scraps.  Yes, she does. lol
