Who bikes w/ their dog?

I'd also like to know more about what angeltrudelle said. Is this bad for your dog?

I guess like anything else it could be if you didn't use caution and good sense.  Don't force the dog to go beyond his abilities and don't take the dog if the pavement is too hot, etc.

Well,i have been using mine for 2 years now with my Husky, and i always get comments from my Vet and others who view her on her athletic appearance..

it is all about common sence,,,

if you cant ride a bike well,i would suggest practicing your solo riding for awhile and getting confident in your riding abilities before attempting to take your dog,,

once your there, attach your pup and walk him next to the bike..let him see that there is nothing to be afraid of...give him commands for left and right..haw and gee..

once your ready to ride, make sure your bike is mechanically sound with good braking...

now that you are ready, start slow...short distances..consider things like weather and road surgface and heat...everything that was explained above..

i am a huge advocate of this excersize tool as long as common sence is used...i also do not advocate its use for heavy set or big boned dogs(unless you have enough control of your bike to let these dogs  lope,or jog)...

as for your dog going off to chase a squirrel or cat, this is going to have alot to do with your bike riding skill...when your running of jogging your dog,and he tries to go after something, the spring is designed to use the momentum of your bike and your weight to bring the dog back inline,,,most dogs i have seen realize after a few sesions that they cant get the animals, and just enjoy thier jog...you also have to keep your eyes open tho,and if you spot a cat or something, give them a command and let them know what you want...everyonce in awhile,if Kiara sees a cat,she gets a notion to go after it,but i will say GOGOGO! and she now knows to run straight...

i hope this helps you..it is one area that i feel i know something about, and have spent the past 2 years really enjoying the time with my pups on the run...the Vet hads validated my excersize routine and seems genuinely impressed at the pups tone and health.
