Dog beds?

    Dog beds?

I was looking at dog beds at a pet supplie store and thought I sould buy one for Gizmo. I came home a looked online and saw even more choices in beds. Now I can't decide what one to buy for her. She is a border collie mix who is about 40lbs. She mostly likes to sleep in her crate with plently of blankets on in her cave she created under my bed. I was thinking of something with a cover but wonder is she would use it. I also notice there are several choices in the paddign in the beds, I have no idea what's best.

Any suggestions on dog beds? What kind do your dogs like?

I think the Jeffers Pet Catalogue I received has got a ton of bed  selections. I love the ones that have like a border around the bed, its great for Lizzie since she tends to be a deep sleeper and will fall off her bed within 10 minutes of being asleep [&:]

If those beds dont weigh too much I will be ordering one for her.

There are also the 'chalet' type of dog beds and beds that are sort of like crates where your dogs can 'hide' when they sleep but I think those are a bit too outrageous for my taste [;)]

Wow do they make them for humans too? I think it looks super comfy. Rory has a pretty generic bed so a couple of weeks a go I went on a hunt for a new one. it then occured to me that the spoiled brat sleeps on MY bed and only uses hers for when she has treats. Plus she has her special blanket that I have to put down on her generic bed,she wont lay on it without it so I figure why go out and buy a new bed just to have to cover it with her doggy blanket. Meanwhile my dad called, i told him where I was and he said "my dog sleeps outside in his dog house" and I realized Rory is already spoiled so I bought her a whole lotta treats, new collar, and stuff instead.
Anywho, defintly go for one that has a removable cover, no doubt about it!

They also sell seperatly a cover for this bed. I think a nice blanket would also do the trick. I'm still looking around but am so close to pulling out my credit card right now.

Roscoe and Bella are quite fond of their "Costco Special" beds. Only $17 for a 42 x 36" cedar-filled bed with waterproof, machine- washable cover.  I have 5 of them. LOL! They come in all kinds of pretty patterns, too.  They're pretty comfy - I sit on them and don't sink to the bottom. So I'm pretty sure my 60 pound dogs still have "squishy stuff" between them and the hard floor. [:D]

Loki and Odin have two Costco beds in the back of our truck (with a campershell on it). They always smell like cedar after they've taken a ride, but they are sure nice and comfy. [:D] In the house, we have a couple of memory foam (about 2" thick) dog beds from Walmart. They sleep in their crates a lot too, but they've just got a couple of blankets in them.

Has anyone tried cooling beds for the summer? I was looking at some online and they're expensive, but if they work it might be worth it.

Are they still selling those at costco because I haven't seen them? But the one that someone posted above look really comfy, I wouldn't mind buying one just to sit on while watching TV lol. jk.

We buy dog beds at Target (like practically everything else we own). They're cheap and seem more than adequate. Russell has, and likes, the kind that has a stiff upholstered foam outer piece with machine washable fake-sheepskin cushion inside.

We just bought a new bed at Costco 4 months ago when we adopted Odin, so they were selling them then. But it seems like each Costco carries different items, so maybe not down in CA right now?

Now that I think about it I have see thoes beds at cosco in Albuquerque. Next trip up there I might stop there. I live 70 miles away from the nearest costco so it's almost easer for me just to order online.

i would think this bed would be a little hot in the summer time, but a perfect bed in the winter. even though our dogs are inside most of the time and tha ac is on, they get hot on beds in the summer and prefer the floor. but in the winter it is totally different and they want something to snuggle into.[sm=2cents.gif]
