    Post your irresistable treats here!

I'm headed to Obedience training with Gracie and need ideas for treats to test on her for training since I haven't found anything yet that she goes NUTS for. Sooooo..

What one treat does your dog go crazy for?

My dogs go crazy for Snackfish - but they're really hard and hard to cut up, I don't know how they'd work for training.

    Have you tried liver treats?

Puree a lb of liver in the food processor with a couple cloves of garlic, then pour it all into 2 cups of whole wheat flour, mix it up well, glop onto a foil lined baking sheet, bake at 325 for 20 minutes for soft, 25 for crunchy.  When it's completely cool, pull the foil off, cut with a pizza wheel into itty bitty pieces about the size of a pinkie nail, then return to the sheet to freeze...that way they won't stick together. When frozen you can transfer to ziplocs.

I use chicken liver cuz it's easier to work with and doesn't stink to high heaven like beef does, and I typically make mega batches at a time.

Russell lives and dies for dehydrated chicken.

I know that some people do use hotdogs, but I sure won't.  Hotdogs are full of alll kinds of crap and nitrates, chemicals, etc.....I don't eat them, sure don't want them to have something I won't eat.

I've tried Gracie on freeze dried liver treats and she's oooookay with them. She will eat them, but without a ton of enthusiasm. If she wasn't to hot on the freeze dried liver, do you think she'll like the baked treats? If so, I'm willing to make some this weekend!

    Awesome suggestions! Keep them coming!!

Our dog LOVES string cheese! I like it because it's not stinky. When I training I keep one of those indivudually wrapped pieces in my pocket and just pull off little bits as needed. Plus, the kids and I can snack on it too!

While I can't make any promises, they are the ONLY thing my crew will touch with the rare exception made for Innova health bars.

beef jerky (not regularly though $$$); cheese, the stinkier the better; or pears, the problem with those is that they are MESSY.

we sometime also use some of the kong liver stuffing.

I'm going to try little bits of these things in a taste test line up with Gracie. So i'll be trying most if not all of the suggestions!

Some have mentioned using those new Natural Balance rolls and cutting them up to use for training treats.  I'd use them in a minute, but they don't make them in the duck & potato formula.  I use carrots and fortunately, Sassy thinks they're heavenly [:)].

My dog loves all of her treats.  She gets 3 different things, a home-made biscuit, a home-made peanut butter doggy ice cream, and carrots.  She goes nuts for all three, but if i had to pick her favorite, i'd say the peanut butter ice cream.

At least I'm not alone!  If I wouldn't eat it, I won't give to my boy.  I thought I was the only one.  I also love the fresh liver treat idea.

The treat that Xerxes goes crazy for  is freeze-dried liver.  All I have to do is look at the shelf where I keep it and he goes crazy.
