Turdsday Chit Chat

Ah, that's good to know, Lisa.  I'll have to look more closely at ours and figure out which we have.  I know we have flex spending for sure, not sure about HSA. Maybe I've missed out all this time. Hmm

Why put him on your policy? Sorry for the stupid q.

Nothing much going on here. Just your typical winter day here in MI.

I slept in!!!! *finishes her tea and runs out the door*  I've still got it! LOL

(((Tina))) - that seriously stinks about the jump in rates. Our rates have jumped too and since our's is tiered by age, mine really jumped when I turned 50. I think it jumps way up again when I turn 55 too. I feel pretty darn lucky that my director has raised the amount they pay towards premiums every year that rates have risen. It hasn't always kept up with the the increase, but it sure helps. I'm able to carry full, no deductible coverage on myself plus vision and dental with no cost to myself. It was too costly to keep DH on my plan tho, so he's on the city's plan and they cover all of his too but it's Kaiser. If we ever got into an accident, they'd have to take us to different hospitals.

Today was the first day in a very long time that I needed my sunglasses when I drove in. Hallelujah!!

I'm maxed out on vacation time again, so I think I'm going to take Monday off. Maybe the Monday after that too. Big Smile

Tina, nope, not COBRA, but thru DH's work.  They pay a good amount towards his, but they pay that same amount for all empl.oyees so that no one "gets more".  This is just one of the reasons that I REALLY need a job with ben's.

The wind is howling here!  I've got to drive downtown to drop off these bids and I hope I don't get blown off one of the elevated overpasses.  My SUV really gets pushed by the wind and it makes me a little nervous.  Lets hope it doesn't start raining too.  Ever since we had a really bad accident on an icy road, I've become a nervous nelly when I have to drive in anything less than ideal weather conditions.

Ouch Glenda. Doesn't MA make you have insurance? I know when I looked into moving there, I was told that, and they also told me my income I would make would qualify me as being low income (and shockingly I didn't take the job and I stayed here) so I could get a special plan for being low income.

I am feeling like I have a sinus infection brooding. On one hand, I am trying to ward it off with sinex, other allergy meds, sinus rinse, and some other stuff. On the other hand, if I just let the infection take hold, they can give me something for it.

To get a hair cut, or not to get a hair cut, that is the question? If not today, I have not time for 2 or 3 weeks.

Why put him on your policy?

Because he is my son, I hoped to make things a little easier for him just in case.  Otherwise he is uninsured.

    Glenda, that's totally outrageous!

Today is one when I wish I was 5 years old again and all I had to worry about was how many marshmallows my mom put in my hot chocolate.

ETA: safe travel vibes for Jackie!

    Safe travel vibes, Jackie.

Yeah, this state does require HI, so I'm hoping you guys don't rat me out.....

    Be careful Jackie !!

You have to submit your proof of insurance with your taxes. If you don't have insurance the state fines you and automatically deducts it from you tax return!

ETA: DH had to have proof of insurance before his company would let him drop their HP.

thanks Linda.  I've got it for this years return and WILL have it for next.  Just a bit of a gap period, unfortunately, since I simply can't stretch the money that far.

Just giving you a heads up... don't know if the insurance reports to the state. We just changed health plans here at work and I got a notice from Tuffs that my insurance was being terminated and I got another notice from Blue Cross for my taxes.

That's what I have - Kaiser.  While there have been times when I haven't been thrilled with them, for the most part I don't have any complaints.  I'm not 100% sure what the premiums are because it comes out of the late DH's pension check, but I've never felt like it was money out of pocket because it was never in pocket to begin with. Their co-pays are pretty reasonable too.  My plan costs $10 to see a specialist and $5 for any prescription and fortunately I rarely need either one.  Delta Dental comes out of the check too and that's about $13.00 a month. Mammos are done on a walk-in basis so I don't even need to make an appointment for that.

It was pretty chilly this a.m. but the sun is out.  I think I prefer sunny and colder to foggy and about 10 degrees warmer.  I need to get out the Dyson sometime today.  The carpet in the hall close to the wall looks like it's growning pups. Indifferent That carpet does a pretty good job of not showing dog hair, so if I can see it things must be pretty bad in that department.

Safe travels Jackie. I haven't been in any big accidents but the older I get the more of a weany I am about driving in less than ideal conditions.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief for the moment. They've been looking for a 4 y.o. boy who was abducted by the mother's BF. Last night they pulled a car out of a canal and I held my breath. It wasn't the car but one that had been stolen in 2007. They knew there was another car in there though and were going back down to search this morning. I just checked and the 2nd car wasn't the right one either. Apparently this canal is a hotspot for dumping stolen cars. I'm just praying the BF is taking care of the little boy and they find them soon.
