I'm late to this thread, but it sure is making me chuckle as I read my way through it! I definitely kiss dogs (even those that belong to other people) -- ears, nose, head, paws, belly, etc. I don't like a dog that licks a lot, especially on the face. One lick is okay, but not that obsessive, continual attempt to wash your face!
This thread reminds me of a funny story. A co-worker and I used to walk on our lunch break, and we'd frequently pass a shop that had two Bulldogs lounging on the threshold, watching the people go by. We always stopped to pet them and noticed one of them had a large pink stain on the top of his head (he was mostly white). One day, the shop owner was near the dogs when we stopped to pet them, and she greeted us. As we chatted with her, she was cuddling the dogs, and she kissed them several times on the tops of their heads. It was then that I realized the cause of the stained fur: she was wearing VERY bright lipstick, and it left kiss marks all over the poor dog's head! The other dog's fur was darker on her head, so it wasn't as noticeable. My co-worker and I laughed all the way back to our office!
