Happy Turkey Day Chat

My family is having our T-dinner on Saturday (long story short, we do this every year because we have a separate gathering for the family and friends who actually really dig each other!), but I have a bird in the oven, am chilling with my dogs, and looking forward to TV, naps, walks, and generally doin' nuthin' for once:-)))   Have a great day, everyone!

 I think my potatoes would be better if I had a ricer. Where am I going to get one of those today?

 Our paper was so thick with ads today Beastie couldn't keep it in his mouth LOL - he can do the Sunday paper to give you an idea.

We went for a walk which turned into a wild one - everyone was out with their dog.  All the usual characters but lots of extras, quite fun but very chaotic 

I've already begun my marathon eating - had a blueberry muffin prior to our walk, then a bowl of yogurt, fruit and muesli followed by a slice of home-made cheese bread toasted.  YUM

Settled in to watching the Macy's parade - we used to go every year, I kind of miss that, then the dog show, then off to a friend's house.

I've been lazy this morning and I need to get it in gear and get old Tom in the oven.  And of course this year, DH has requested that the bird be stuffed, so have to make the stuffing far earlier than I usually do.  Everything else is done tho, except for making my mashed taters and gravy so once the bird is started, I can pretty much relax for the day until it comes dinner time.

You could probably find one at Target or Walmart. Not sure they're open today though, I used to have one and they do work really well.

DH just left for work and I'm not inclined to do much more than veg out watching the parade for a few hours. I found a bunch of movies I've wanted to watch, so I'll fit those in later today and tonight.

We broke a record for lowest morning temps today. I think we're at 30 degrees but might still drop to 29. Brrrrrrrrrr

I need to google "ricer"

Potatoes, carrots are all chopped up, peanut butter pie made and chilling, apples cored, peeled and sliced for crisp.  Turkey is in cold water in the sink because I'm out of room in the fridge, and I don't need to cook it for a couple more hours. 

The folks are on their way -- it's about a 3 1/2 hours drive -- DH and MIL are doing the turkey trot in the freezig rain.  I'm sure they will be thrilled when they get home.

If you can't find one, try a mixer. It fluffs them up!

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving !

Despite the beautiful sunshine, we are having our coldest Thanksgiving since 1985!  It is only 5 degrees right now with a wind chill of minus 7.  High will be about 13 degrees.  Brrr ! 

Very lazy start to the day.  Heading to my parents later.  Early to bed tonight because I have to be at work at 5 am.  Tomorrow is the single biggest day of the year !   My little store has been #1 in the company for sales on Black Friday for the past several years.  Keep your fingers crossed that we can do it again !!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope you all have fun and relaxing days!

I am in a pretty darned good mood today, despite it NOT being Thanksgiving here. LOL. We put our Christmas tree and decorations up here at work and I've gotten a great start to all my Christmas shopping, so it seems as though I am organized this Christmas! Heh. Usually I wait until a week or two before Christmas to shop, but we are going to Mexico before Christmas this year, so I have to do all my shopping ahead of time. Oh and did I mention Mexico in 15 days!! Woooo Weee.

It is DH's birthday next....Sunday and while we don't have any big plans, I think we are just going to do adorable couple stuff. We will sleep in late, make a large brunch, go for a hike with the dogs, go get our Christmas tree, drag out all the decorations and decorate the house while watching Christmas movies :) We've been so busy lately, we haven't had time for "couple stuff" so I'm excited for it. :)

Gosh, I so wish I could afford to go to MI and get my Christmas stuff and all my stuff from storage.  Would be delightful to have all that Christmas stuff.......hopefully next year.

 I didn't get a ricer today. I am going to get myself one though. Chocolate pecan pie went over very well. I made it last year, using the Paula Deen recipe, but this year I left out the bourbon. I think I preferred this.  I don't make potatoes often, but I need one, you know, in order to be really professional. The eating is over at my house, and I am off to a friend's in a bit. I need to get dressed. She is coming in 20 minutes. I need to jump up and down or something and make room for more stuff.

I think also my black Friday plans are changed. I am only going to go out to get the prices adjusted on my stuff from Old Navy. I bought everything yesterday, and then they said they can do a price adjust. So, no fighting for the stuff I want. I just go to the register right away. My brother and law and I were going to look for laptops, but the only one I would buy is at Best Buy. People have been lined up there already, so I am not going to bother with that. I'll just look at what is available on Monday. Or maybe I want an iPad instead of a netbook. I don't really know.
