Thanks for all the good vibes everyone. The interview did go well, however I won't find out whether or not I got the job until the end of next week. She still has some interviews this week and the beginning of next week. The interview was with two people, the adoptions manager and her assistant. They asked me your typical interview questions (what do you know about us, experience with people, dealing with angry people, etc) So, I think it went well and she did seem to like the fact that I am so involved with my own dogs in terms of training, so I think that will help me.

The waiting is going to kill me!!!!

So glad to hear your interview went well! I was knee deep in cats when they were giving you the tour ;-) but as you probably saw it's enormous for a shelter and good people too. I'm still "the new girl" so I don't have much (or any) authority over what goes on but I still want to send out good vibes that the right decision is made for this position. I also had to wait over a week for my background check and drug screening to clear before I could start, so my advice is just be patient.

Send the interviewer a neat hand written thank you note. Try to casually work in a brief review of one or two of your best qualifications.

Excellent idea! A candidate I recently interviewed did that and everyone on the interviewing committee commented positively about receiving a note.

Excellent idea... make sure it's addressed specifically to the person you interviewed with (as the mail likely gets sorted and sat on... just being honest. Mail is the lesser of priorities with mouths to feed and kennels to clean...)

Thank you so much everyone! I just got the call and I got the job! I am so excited, I really needed this. DH and I are both feeling really down lately because of our job situations. Now to get DH a job... I should beat him for majoring in Theatre Arts and Philosophy.

I start tomorrow, unofficially. They still need a drug test and a background check, but there won't be any problem there!
