    Saturday!!

So... after working 18 hours of overtime this week, I am done. I refuse to answer my phone til Sunday..when I have to go back in work, lol.

I went to the doc yesterday and he said there's definitely something wrong with me...we just don't know what =(.

On the plus side...made lots of money for Las Vegas and I'm going to see "Life as we know it" today...I'm a ridiculous romantic comedy fan so I'm really excited, lol.

That reminds me of last year when DW fell and hit her head, causing a laceration that required four staples. They gave her a CT scan just to be safe and they didn't find anything. http://justjoking.com/rimshot

    Vegas, baby!

Gorgeous day here in Pa.  love the fall!  We already had our walk, breakfast and now time for me to head out for a bit of shopping and grocerys.  have a wonderful day all you good people.

Up way too early here but I have a lot I want to get done. It's chilly enough for a sweatshirt in the morning lately but will be in the mid-80s for the next 7 days. Yay!!

I moved 2 huge potted plants yesterday and then tried unsuccessfully to move a dresser in our bedroom. I now have a huge knot in my upper back today and hope that the Motrin and getting busy will make it loosen up. I really feel pleased with the changes I made though.

Amanda - I saw your post about your dinner guest last night and I hope what you said made a long-lasting impression on him.

I need to jump in the shower and then go get some grocery shopping done. I hope everyone has a great day.

Just got back from a checkup appointment with a new vet (since we moved). That's vet #4 (over the last 3 years) who thinks that there's really nothing we can do about Rascal's bone spur, and (implied) doesn't think it's a big deal anyway. He also suggested some (IMO) stupid things, like aspirin (yes, I'm really going to give my dog daily aspirin because when he moves his neck in one particular way his bones knock together) or physical therapy (I'm sure stretching is really going to help him feel better when his bones hit each other). And a restrictive neck brace isn't a good solution, because it would cause added stiffness that might exacerbate the pain (that I can understand). So, we're kind of stuck. As long as Rascal has underlying pain issues, he's not going to be behaviorally reliable no matter what we do. It's just so frustrating. I hate to see him be in pain, even if only occasionally, and I hate for myself to always be worrying about how he's going to interact with people (and how people interact with him). I wish I didn't have to be ridiculously selective in the people I board him with. I wish I didn't have to leave his leash on 24/7 when my MIL watches him (because she can't get the leash on without risking being bitten). But maybe that's just the way it will have to be.

We're working on training a command so that when people pet him, he tucks his chin to his chest (making the painful movement impossible). Getting that response to be rock-solid (even when he's scared) will be a long road, but at least it's some tiny glimmer of hope. Though honestly, I think he may just forever be a one-person dog, and I just need to deal with that. Doesn't mean I like it, though.

I mean really, how can you expect to train aggression out of a dog who hurts when interacting with people? How can you keep him from being scared when his experiences are unpredictably painful? Arrrgh.

Anyway, sorry for the vent. It's a beautiful day outside, so I should stop walking around with a storm cloud over my head.

Another perfect day here with cool morning temps and warm afternoon.  We're back from the dog romp at the ballpark. :)  I'm heading to Kohls in a little while.  I need some cool weather tops and a pair of shoes or two.  I'm not a good shopper and don't always try on clothes before I buy. :(  I guess I'll take DH who is a champion shopper and will make me take the time. lol  We were going to go to the Farmer's Market but I saw there is a huge event there this morning so we decided to skip.

Courtney, I'm sorry that you and Rascal can't find a good solution to his pain and therefore his fear aggression.  I can understand your extreme frustration.  I think the chin down training is a great idea. Wish I was closer so I could pet sit for you when needed.

Cathy, I hope your back feels better.

I'm ticked off at Amazon, big time.  I ordered a b-day present for DH and it should have been here in plenty of time for his birthday, Monday.  It's not scheduled for delivery till Wednesday.  It didn't even ship until the 8th, even though I ordered it on the 3rd!  WTH is up with that?  It was in stock, so I guess when you get free shipping they don't give a rat's butt when it arrives.

    Have a great day everyone!

I've had the very same experience Jackie. I think it's their way of getting people to upgrade to faster and more expensive shipping. Early Happy Birthday to Charles though. Maybe print out a picture of whatever the gift is and include it in a card? Good luck with the shopping. Since I can take 10 things into a dressing room and find that not one of them fits, I never buy anything without trying it on. I had great luck finding some clothes while my friend was here. I think just having a shopping buddy helped me out.

My back feels fine now, so either the motrin worked or just moving around loosened it up. I went grocery shopping already and now need to clean but I don't feel very energetic. I need to turn off HGTV and put some music on and that always gets me revved up.

Hey Jackie. JJ works at Amazon. He said that if you got the free shipping they do take their sweet time shipping it because apparently your in no hurry to get it. Yes he says it's stupid especially when the item is in stock and their not busy this time of the year.

Jackie I am sorry your Dh's gift is not going to be on time.

Cathy, I also hope you feel better.

I went to Meijer's just a bit ago to get some sale items that I wanted to back stock and to buy apples to make apple butter.

No run to a store is complete unless you check out the pet section. I bought my cats a kitty cat 2 seater cat condo. They, in true cat fashion, are not impressed. I also lost my mind over 2 things, first I bought the boy a rubber goose, it quacks, it sounded cute. I brought it home at noon, it is now 130pm and I am ready to hire a hunter to shoot it, clean it and cook it. To bad the dang thing is rubber. What in the world was I thinking?????

The second thing that I lost my mind over was the condition of the fish area. It was disgusting. The tanks all appeared dirty, the glass was filthy, the sink area had live Betta fish and 1 dead one that had left this world several days ago. All the fish tanks had dead fish floating or laying on the bottom of the tank. It was very obvious that this area was being neglected and not taken care of. So I walked myself over to the nearest employee, who was 2 dept. over and asked for a manager to meet me in that section. I was very nice, polite and well mannered, but I left him in no doubt that I was seriously thinking of calling a govt. service to complain and that I was going to contact corp. as well. My last words were "if this is how you treat live breathing animals and care to display it, I have to wonder what the heck you do behind the scenes to not only those animals but to the items I buy in your store."

I sent corp. the same message. Disgusting!

To console myself I bought 2 bottles of Witches Brew.

Thanks, Jackie. Sorry about your birthday order. I've had the same thing happen too - present for my "challenging" step-mother. I got in biiiiiig trouble! It's so annoying - sometimes I think they make you wait just so you'll get so exasperated you'll pay for shipping the next time!

    What a gorgeous day!!

I spent this morning at my g-parents helping them do a few things around their house. Poor g-pa can't see well enough anymore to change the batteries in his clock. He was so appreciative for that little thing he couldn't say thank you enough.

I took my gma to the store too and then we went out to lunch. They love it when us grandkids come around.

Now I'm hanging out at a friends house with all the dogs. This is the friend who adopted thelma, remember her? Little lab mix. Well she has not grown at all! I have no idea what her mix is but she is so funny looking. Lab head, long body, stubby legs. Poor dog lol

I don't order from Amazon very often, but I've had ok luck with the free shipping. The last time I ordered, my order didn't qualify for the free shipping, but I paid for the cheapest shipping option...which I think has the same time frame..and it was here well before they estimated it to be.   I wonder if Monday's holiday is throwing it off

Never had a problem so far with Amazon but I pay for shipping, just got done ordering from them about l0 minutes ago but then I'm not in a hurry for the package to come either. *S* Hope you get yours soon.

It's a beautiful day today, so warm and sunny! I even got to whip out my capris for probably the last time. For once I actually have the weekend off, too! Unfortunately, I feel like crap today due to ahem, that time of the month. So I've just been lounging around the house like a lazy bum. I did accomplish getting my car tire fixed. Somehow I ran over a screw at some point and I got my dad to help me out to fix that up. What a hassle. Right now I have homemade pizza pops in the oven and a dessert pizza pop, made with Nutella, peanut butter and crumbled Mr. Big bars. Mmmm. Hey, I can an excuse to indulge. ;] Hopefully I won't be too full to drag my butt down to the gym later this evening. LOL.
