Thursday, not quite Friday, Chat

Tina, your DS just went up ten notches in the opinion poll.  If he can make yummy homemade pizza,  there's hope. lol  Of course, he will eat the leftovers today.

Candace, I voted too and no question about my citizenship.  Good luck.  I met a woman who won that Pepsi challenge for her rescue near us.  She was sort of in shock but a good kind of shock.  I think they got $15,000.00.  I almost gave Gabby to her rescue but as we all know, I changed my mind. :)

I didn't have breakfast this morning.  Someone pass me a cinnamon roll or muffin or anything.....

I'm almost caught up at work and will be taking off to pick up some outdoor chairs in a little bit.  We're going to Gardens in the Moonlight Saturday at the botanical gardens.  I can't find my frigging fold up chairs and think I might have left them somewhere.  I have other chairs but these are the type that fold up and go in a carrying bag.  We've never gone to this event before and I'm looking forward to the bands and food and wine.  I'm sure the chairs I can't find will show themselves as soon as I buy new ones.

Good morning all!  DH has the day off so he took the kids to the big indoor swimming pool for the morning- will be afternoon school for today. So I'm enjoying taking my sweet time this morning. :)  And I actually have time to post here! Yay!

Glenda, I should send you my dh, he is the master unpacker.  He will have he entire house unpacked and settled in a week, it's crazy. I plug along but he just hits box after box. Kindof a nice feature in a hubby !

B'fast is stirfry. Yes. I am a weirdo.

No, because that's when I first noticed they were missing.  We took some other chairs to the birthday/reunion thing.  I might have loaned them to someone and didn't get them back.  Yep, I'm sticking with that theory because it's better than the possibility that the garage ate them or the chairs left on their own due to messy garage. lol

I wish it would quit with the little rain showers that keep popping up randomly at inconvenient times like when I'm trying to get Gabby girl to potty outside.

So, how long should it take to do a background check? It's been one week today and I'm still waiting to hear back on mine so I can start working!.

Mine took a little over two weeks... town was fine but the FBI took longer.

Your background check involves confirming with previous employers- not just your criminal and credit history (which takes like a minute with the automated stuff HR depts can do online.)  Getting your previous employers to respond to the requests for Employment Verifications can take time - and sometimes 3 or 4 or 5 requests to the same person because either the contact info is wrong, or the person who is supposed to be verifying employment is out, or too busy, etc.

One of my background checks wasn't even finished until 2 weeks after I started because of some of the above, and I think I did the drug test after I started, too.

As far as interviewing for other jobs - YES, you should be.  For all you know, you're a close second with another candidate.  They could be waiting for that person to decline before they offer to you.  Or any number of things!!  Do not put all your eggs in one basket!  Keep looking at other employment options.  This wait may turn up something even better for you - GO LOOK FOR IT.  At least you will have tried.

I get calls all the time asking for education verification and I will give the info over the phone but most schools want a written request, so that takes longer. I also don't think most places jump on taking care of this stuff as quickly as I do. I had a call this morning on a student who said he graduated with us in 1994. Our school didn't open until 1998 Confused

We're getting a warm-up here for the next several days. Low to mid 90s and one days shows 98. My friend was so worried it would be cold when she was here visiting - lol.

Well - still trying to get and stay caught up, so off I go.

I didn't realize a background check was that involved. I was told that it might take longer since I'm from out of state but didn't know they will check everything. If they have to check my education, that's 3 colleges two of which take forever to get any paperwork done, I've also worked 4 jobs, then whatever else they need to know... yeah I guess that's a lot of contacts. Thanks for the info!

I really shouldn't be on right now. I have tons of reading to do before 5pm, because I didn't plan it out all week, I have a phone call sometime between 12:30-1:30, and I had hoped to clean up my room some more before 5pm, but that's not going to happen.

Oh, and I was just told I might just be an expert witness in a case, how lovely is that?

When DH and I were foster parents, our background check took a couple weeks.  Because we have lived in more than one state, for fostering, it required an FBI background check.

You don't even want to know what happened when the FBI ran my credentials.

Glenda you really need to take your time and not wear yourself out.

Good vibes and hug to all that need them!

Jackie if I bring you chairs can I come with you?  That sounds like lots of fun!

I can't believe that I have been home all week. This week flew by.

My house looks like a tornado hit it.

I still feel like crapola and my ears are still plugged (that's the worst part, like water in my ears). I finally got in to the shower though. go me. Now I need to muster up the energy to hit the store for basic stuff like tp and tissues.

The dogs are being surprisingly accepting of me laying around all week.
