what type of dog is Shenzi?

    Hi everyone,

The vet has not been helpful in identifying our loveable mutt Shenzi.  Maybe you guys can help?  She has a large chest and small waist/hips, floppy ears, and is brindle.  Here are a couple of pics:

I'll try to get some of her standing up.  She's about 4 months now.  TIA!

The brindle color is most common in greyhounds but has also been seen in pit bulls. She seems to have a very GSD look to her face. She is still a pup so it's hard to tell what thoes ears will do in the next few months or how long thoes legs will grow. Her body is a puppy body making it harder to really know what shape she will grow into.

If I had to take a whild gess I would say Greyhound/GSD mix but it's so hard to say for shure.

hmm...we've been thinking pit and maybe shephard for the face.  Also, the fur on her back is coarser and slightly longer than the rest of her which I've seen in other german shepherds we have had.  My mother in law has a shepherd/border collie mix, and Shenzi's ears are kind of like his.  It's her body that had us thinking that she might have some great dane or greyhound in her b/c she's so lean with a large chest.  She is kind of bowlegged and runs sideways like a pit though...

guess we'll just have to wait and see, but she seems to be quite a perplexing mix...

    thanks! :)

She is very cute.  She looks like she has a bunch of different breeds in her.  I see a little pitbull, and i agree with Xebby that there might be some GSD in her.  It is really hard to guess at that age though, but you have one good looking dog for sure.

She's a cute dog, and there's no denying that.  As to what breeds she might be...still too young to tell, just raise her right

Brindle happens in a lot of breeds, including Plotts, Greyhounds, Whippets, Pits, Tennessee Treeing Brindles, Boxers, and many others.  If your insurance company asks what she is, tell them she is a Tennessee Treeing Brindle.  Who knows, maybe she is a TTB mix...

Adorable mixed up baby dog! I see a little Great Dane, a little pit, some kind of shepherd or Aussie...I think she's a pretty good mix of things but it's extremely hard to tell at that age. Enjoy her, she's a beauty!

Here is my Buster.  The rescue place told us he was a greyhound/GSD mix.  He has the brindle coloring and the floppy ears, but I'm not so sure about the GSD in him.  He looked a bit like your dog when he was a pup:

To me she kind of looks like a brindle German Shepherd, so trying to think of what breeds went into that mix. It can be really hard.

I've seen pics of known mixes where everyone on the forum guessed what breeds  they were. When we found out the answers, in almost all cases everyone was waaaay off.

So with your girl, who knows, it could have been Lab/Greyhound or a mix of a mix. Impossible to know for sure. [:)]

Brindles are beautiful. I think Schenzi is a pure breed cutie!

thanks everyone!  she certainly is a handful, that's for sure...

GeorgAnne...that's cool that she might look like Buster when she grows up!  For now, she's our little hyena... :)
