I live in Socorro NM. These people live in Datal and Magdalina, small towns, at least 45 minets from us. Belive me there has been action taken agenst them. I only wish more could be done to stop it. These are only the stories I know about I'm shure there are even more that haven't surfaced yet. It makes me upset every time we have to deal with the result from these people. Usally it's not the abuser themself that brings the animal in, it's the owner who was looking for anouther way to deal with the problem without seeing a vet. This make it even more difficult to directly accuse the abuser. Living in a small town I have learned there are not as many strict laws as there would be in a city. The lady with the chiwhawhas is not allowed to breed them anymore but we still find signs that she still does but don't have proof. Everythig that can be done has been done, I only hope these people get what they deserve![

Before I was a vet tech I would watch animal planet and ASPCA cops and think how horrible it was that that happens, but it does happen in every town. I was shocked to learn that people do this in my very own little town. I love animals and only wish I could save everyone but there are so manny things that get in the way. On TV we only hear the good outcomes but don't know how many more are out there.
The stories I tell her are the ones not heard on the news, not know by many and seem to only be ignored when brought up because it's too horrible to deal with. I think we need to be more aware that it does happen and be careful who we trust our pets with. To me my dogs are my children and I only trust a vet to do anything to them regardless of the cost.
