To Those Who Have Lost This Week.....

((((((((((((((( Hugs))))))))))))))) to all that need them.

It is truly amazing to have such a support network, and while I wish so many hadn't been in my same place this week, it is comforting to have others at the same stages in the process as I am.  I don't feel alone in my grief and that in and of itself is incredibly valuable.

Thank you *all* from the bottom of my heart.

Exactly what Erin said.  Ya'll accepted and loved my duck, even tho she's rather an unusual pet!  Knowing how much everyone cares made a huge difference.

To me, there is no difference between all of your dogs and my real life friends dogs other than that I cannot drive over to see you guys.  I am happy when they have a Gotcha Day or a birfday or do something great in a sport or a class.  And, am very concerned and worried if they are sick.

Ah, but Miss Corky only THOT she was a dog!

I do know what you mean Lori.  We are such a community here that sometimes I forget you guys aren't close by!

Very well put, Lori.  This is such a close knit community that whenever someone loses a beloved pet, we each feel the loss almost like it was one of our own.

Just seeing this, Kim that was so touching.  My heart has been so full of love and grief for all my friends here.  I am happy that you shared this.

Just getting here too. Kim, thank you for starting this thread and sharing that lovely poem.

My heart is with everyone right now, that has lost, or is worried about, a pet. Sometimes I wish there was more I could do, but I know that what you guys think and how you care, has kept me going more than once. I hope that in some small way, I can do the same for you too. (((hugs)))

Im so sorry to hear about everyones losses. I havent been on lately and just got the time to poke in and wanted to fill everyone in that I had to put my old girl to sleep. Bug was a amazing dog, I got her when i was 7 years old and we did 4h together and went everywhere together. Im 23 now and she past away last week in my arms at the age 16 1/2. Ive never lost one of my personal dogs before and its hitting me hard. She taught me soooo much and now i understand dog behaviour, nutrition and training because of her.

I hope everyone is okay and know that I think you are awesome owners and did your best! Ive been on this forum for a few years and love knowing I can go online and read about you and your animals bonds, funtimes and trials.

I'm sorry proof - I know how you feel - Maggie came to me when I was 15 and she was with me for 10 years.  She's also the first dog I've been with when they died.  It's super tough.

Speaking of - I just got a call from the cremation service. Sad It was incredibly hard to cover all the little details over the phone (name and dates on the urn, payment).  At least I don't have to go back to the clinic where she died to pick them up, but I'm still crying from the convo.  It didn't help that the guy was so cheerful and thought it was ironic that they had her bday listed as the 19th and her death date as the 19th, too.  Dude, if you're talking to someone who is obviously trying to keep it together don't you *dare* try to make light of something.  I'm not really mad at the guy, just the situation; I figure he's probably not a person who's really comfortable with death and uses humor to diffuse it.

I was doing pretty good until that - need to get it out and go run errands now..

Maggie's coming back home today...she'll stay with us for a while and then I think we'll spread her ashes back in Indiana and maybe on a few trails in SC that she loved.
