What breed is my dog?!?!?!

    • Gold Top Dog
He looks very much like an American Bulldog to me. Very handsome dog!
    • Bronze
He looks to have either American Bulldog or Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog in him. But what ever he is he sure is a handsome guy.

hmm... I will take a guess and even say he could be mixed with a jack russell terrier.

    Is your camera date off?

Cause it said the picture was taken in Jan '04, which would make him at least 2.5 years old [:)].

    You guys are blind!!

This dog has spots all over, so it obvious he's a Dalmatian mix, could be Boxer or Pit mix.

Blind Spots to do mean that he is a Dalmation possibly yes but our boy as sorts of "Spots" an is not a dalmation he is an English Pointer.[8D]

pointer/bully breed mix. English pointers easily get that tall, and the color pattern/spotting is SO pointer. Is he "birdy" at all? does he point?
    • Gold Top Dog
Lions and tigers and bears ...OH MY!!!!

That is either one of two BREEDS...I would venture Not a mix.

American Bulldog, if the jaw is undershot (can't tell in that picture)
    or
American Staffordshire Terrier/American Pit Bull Terrier

The "ticking" under the coat is very often found on white dogs. It has nothing to do with the breed it is a pigment issue.

LOL, my chinese crested has the skin spots too - it's called lacing in that breed, where it is more a prominent characteristic for obvious reasons.[;)]

Border collies get those spots too.  AND they have ticking type spots - same genetics as dalmations but nothing in common with that breed.  Actually a lot of the herding breeds have ticking.

Not to say that this particular dog has any BC or crestie in it, LOL.  I see pit and I guess if the size is accurate maybe something else, a bird dog or pointing breed?

Gypsy has the spotting under her coat as well and we all know she's just one breed--AM Staff.

not the mottled skin, the pattern of brown: tail base color, spot in middle of back, and brown head with blaze is what says "Pointer" to me. Classic color pattern of english pointers.

That color pattern is called an extreme white piebald.  This is kind of tough to explain.  Here's a site with some details:  [linkhttp://supernova.lokatt.se/Tut/colours-white.htm]http://supernova.lokatt.se/Tut/colours-white.htm[/link].  In a dog with that much white on it, the last place for the coloring to disappear from is the ears and the base of the tail.  This is also a common coloring in Pit Bulls.  I think he's either an APBT or an AmStaff.  I can't really see the big head that you normally think of as AB.

Hey, missplacedhate, are you still here? Can you tell us about your dog? We'd love to hear more.
    • Bronze
It's really hard to tell from the pic, but if he is 27 inches at the shoulder, I would guess that he is an American Bulldog.
