    Any Problems?

I just wanted to know if there is ever any problems with people getting ripped off when they were looking for a dog here? If so, could you give me some names of people that I should know about?
I'm buying a dog through mail and I never bought anything through mail nor on the internet so I dunno.
    Any help will be appretiated.
    Thanks.

the only help I can offer is don't do it....buyer beware. And it's a live animal you are getting not a t-shirt.
Why not visit a local shelter and see if they have puppies?  Check w/a vet and see if they know of any good local breeders. Look online for good breeders in your area.
But online....I wouldn't go there at all

I agree with Mary 100%. Many of the "I'll ship my dog to you for a small fee" emails you get will be spam pure and simple- people who just want your money.

I wouldn't buy a dog off the internet anyway (as in breeder "sales" where you have a shopping cart just like Amazon.com) because you really don't know the living conditions of the dogs.

I agree with Mary and Laura....Considering how many beautiful puppies are euthanized every year just because there aren't enough homes for them.

    My suggestion: adopt adopt adopt.

It's not just getting a pet, it's saving a life.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox for now [;)]

Have you looked on Petfinder.com?  There are two Husky/Malamute rescues in Idaho (Bear Lake area) and more in Washington.  I had no problem at all finding Husky puppies.  A lot of the rescues do not put puppies online because they go quickly but they may have them in foster homes.  This is a good way to find out if they will be okay with your cats.  I would just visit shelters, go
    to the adoption events, etc.
I wouldn't trust internet sites unless you know someone personally
who can give you a recommendation on the breeder.  There are
just too many puppy scams and puppymill/backyard breeders. I know a guy who bought an Akita from a source like this.  At two years both back knees had to be repaired costing almost $5,000.

    Check this website out:http://www.prisonersofgreed.org
Why you shouldn't buy from a puppy mill. You don't know if it is a puppy mill or not if you buy online or through the mail.

Read this thread about someone here who wanted to buy a dog online:
    http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=53567

Read this thread about a ripoff scam:
    http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=60263

The ads on the auction sites and Yahoo classifieds are nearly ALL scams. You can send them money but you'll never see anything but the picture they stole from dogster or somewhere else. That's all they have: a picture.

Please adopt a dog. There are hundreds of sled dogs ALONE who need homes. Huskies are so active that most people get them for pretty, and realize they can't handle them. A young dog instead of a pup will save you lots of work if you pick the right one, and will love you just as much. I should know. Sofia is the first dog I've had as a puppy in 40 years. All my other dogs have been rescues, and I miss my Stevie dog, who I got when he was around 3, more than I can possibly express. You don't have to get a puppy to have the very best relationship with your doggy best friend.

    [linkhttp://www.petfinder.com/]petfinder[/link] [linkpetfinder >http://www.petfinder.com/]petfinder[/link] petfinder  [:D]  Here's a whole list of huskies: [linket.Animal=Dog&;pet.Breed=husky&;pet.Age=Young&;pet.Size=&;pet.Sex=F&location=93405&;preview=1&scope=0&x=10&y=9]Husky[/link]>http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?action=1&;pet.Animal=Dog&;pet.Breed=husky&;pet.Age=Young&;pet.Size=&;pet.Sex=F&location=93405&;preview=1&scope=0&x=10&y=9]Husky[/link] Search[:D]

Adopting a dog is an AWESOME thing to do, and the best part is that you can get anything from a puppy to a senior, with LOTS of youngish dogs available.  I always highly recommend getting a youngish dog as a "first dog."  You don't have to learn how to be a good dog owner while simultaneously dealing with the headaches and traumas that come with puppyhood.  Plus you tend to know what you're getting in personality/temperament, especially if you adopt through a rescue group, and that's a huge benefit. [sm=wink2.gif]

Oh, and I second what Jean said. Just 'cause the dog wasn't a puppy when you got him/her, doesn't mean you can't bond.  Roscoe aws 3-ish when I got him, and neither he nor I can imagine life without each other.  He's totally bonded to me, and I love him like crazy.

I second the adoption as a way to go.  Definately don't buy a dog online.  Its ok for breeders to have websites and show their pups and bloodlines and stuff.  But I dont think a reputable breeder would ever make the deal over the internet without ever having met you.  Personally I would never send a pup to someone unless I had screened them very carefully personally.  So in short anyone that would is not a good breeder.

    Don't do it!!!!!!

Geez, I can't believe the number of huskies that link Jensw posted brings up.  If you really want to get a husky, help one of those poor souls doomed by puppy mill production and stupid owners.

WhiteFox - I am not sure that is the right link.  All I got was a web-based email site, something akin to hotmal or yahoo mail.

I'll have to come up with some more money or shipping price may have to go down. Thanks agian, I'll try to come up with some more money.[/link]

Okay, I discussed it with my mom, she is okay with loaning me 100 dollars. But before we officialy say 'ok' my mom would like to know a few things.Where are you located?Do you have a site? What is that site? And we will look around the site for more information. Also is it possible to get another picture of the puppy as proof that you have it? I know it sounds kinda rediculous but . . . some people on the internet. . . ya know. As soon as we confirm safety, we will make the order. Thanks! ________________________________

now let's see if I can get these pictures on here as well:
(Ugh, this is a pain in the neck . . . geez, how do I put a picture on here from emai.yahoo.com?)
    • Gold Top Dog
Please, it sounds like a puppy mill, at the very least a backyard breeder. And anyone can send you a picture. You don't have to have a dog to send a picture of a dog....

How LONG of a health guarantee. Which health certificates? Who are the parents and have they been shown?

You can adopt a dog from petfinder for the price you want to spend and not borrow money, and it will be spayed or neutered (most of them are, anyway) and health checked.

Do you have the time and energy it takes to own a husky? They need SERIOUS exercising, and they nearly always run away given half a chance, and are also escape artists. Sofia is half husky. I feel guilty all the time that I don't exercise her enough!
