Andrea, she is an Improperly Coated Portuguese Water Dog.  She is supposed to have long, non shedding hair all over, wavy or curly.  Way back when, there was a gene introduced- maybe from a spaniel or afghan hound (Read this in a portie book) and so now every once and again these coats pop up.  It grows like a golden retriever or flat coat.  It is soft as silk.

We discovered she loooooves the sprinkler. It was hilarious this little dog bouncing around in the sprinkles. LOL

Congrats!!!!  She's beautiful!

Her hair looks a lot like Jack's(spaniel mix). Its medium/longish, wavey, super soft, and really shiny. 
I think I'd actually perfer the looks of an "improper" PWD than a standard one

 How old is she?

She's 5 months :)  She's decided I'm her person.  WHich, of course thrills me to death.  SOrry Jess!

Today she has been playing with toys and retrieving them (yay). 

She holds true to her breed with the multi-octave voice (omg so cute!) and the counter-surfing!  This must be one reason why they are so smart because she wants to know everything about everything. 

Did I mention she feels like silk?  Oh! This morning she asked to go outside to potty!!  So far so good on accidents, she seems to have  good handle on that so far.

She's at my feet now !  I am a big pile of mush over this puppy!

It is very much like a flat coat.  Not quite as full as a golden's and much softer than a golden coat. I've never petted a flat coat before as a comparison.

Very very silky soft.

Um, not to be a smarty pants or anything but she IS a Porto WATER Dog.  Duh. ~L~  I can just see her romping in the sprinkler.  :)

Heh Heh!!   After having 3 dogs who didn't really like the water it is kindof funny to see a dog just go loopy silly at the sight of water LOL

ETA: I'm going to have to figure out how to post videos because the sounds she makes are hilarious!
