rw-so I wanted to report on those shoes

I got some of the Skechers Shapeups like what...3 weeks back? I forget how long. But I have been wearing them on and off when I do my walks. I try to walk at least 3x a week..usually a mile or just over. Nothing life threatening...this is me we're talking about here. Exercise is Gina Kryptonite.

Well I have to report that yes the shoes do in fact work! I have felt the extra work my body is doing during my walks...they feel good on but they DO work you a bit,...esp at first. My thighs (inner and outer both...calves and most importantly...MOST importantly people...my (__|__) is in MUCH better shape of late. I am quite impressed. My jiggle is about gone...and the Titanic has been raised enough that I look back behind me, and say "hey now".

SO...just wanted to post this because some folks might be thinking about getting a pair! Anyone else that wants to add anything about the shoes or shoes like them feel free...positive or negative...we're all here to be informed! Smile

This sounds like a perfect thing to put in the Product Review - Non Dog Related section!!  lol  We've all been talking about these shoes.  Glad to have real-world feedback.  I don't trust the smoking hot women in the commercials, because you know they looked that good before modeling the shoe for 30 mins of filming.

Weird- i just came here to ask about the reebok easytones! I think they're kinda similar...would i be able to wear those for 12.5 hours??

    • Gold Top Dog

not at first...no. I wouldn't I felt..like FELT my shoes the next day and I only wore them about 45 mins. You can work up to all day tho and I guess some folks probably would be fine right off.

You are I think already active and in shape right? Lestaways better than my sorry 35 y/o, married, two kid havin', couch sitting, beer drinking, butt! *cackles*

eta: Paige feel free to scoot this over to Product Review si tu quieres! No hay problema!

I have the reebok runtones and I love them. I wear them dog walking and they're very comfortable. I haven't really noticed a difference in my appearence though.

Well before Croc/Flip Flop weather got here, I wore my Shape-Ups all day everyday at work.  The first couple days were tough to get through, but not like uncomfortable shoes.  It was more doing a few too many toe lifts and maybe some numbness in my feet.  Ok, alot of numbness, but it was more irritating than painful.  Now I barely notice any difference EXCEPT when I go for purposeful walks.  You know the kind where you swing your arms and look like you're on a mission?  There's something about stretching the stride that really kicks the effectiveness of these shoes up a notch.  I think I would give these shoes about a 9/10.  The lost point would be because they kinda look like orthopedic shoes you get when one leg is 4 inches shorter than the other, but most people know what they are now anyway, so that's not a big deal.

I have the Fila ones, simply because I needed shoes I could wear all day at work and I ran across them in the store. They were quite reasonable (my head explodes if I have to pay over $40 for shoes..and I'll generally refuse to do so) I've had them for about a week and now that they've stretched out in the toes a bit (apparently I have weird shaped toes or something) they're quite comfy. I have to say I don't have as many backaches (we do 9 and up hour shifts and, aside from lunches, we don't get breaks and don't get to sit or lean) and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day, which I enjoy.  Haven't had them long enough to see any other benefits, but they've already done the job I required of them.

They definately aren't for fashion.  LOL.  Functional, not sure I could call them that either...for me.  I do like the Skechers, and can feel my calves working when I wear them.  I think they've helped me with my posture too.  I can't wear them for extended periods, as the feet do start getting uncomfortable....numbing, like Jez sez.

I understand a lot of nurses and teachers wear them all day and love them.

Expensive now, likely the cost will come down soon...maybe.

Oh interesting, I was thinking about trying a pair.  Recently I've been working on toning my thighs and rear end up some.  Have been doing some squats, leg lifts with weights, and the stepper and having great results but it would be nice to streamline things and being able to work out the area when I am say doing my 30-50min walk with Kirby.

One thing I love is that they change my posture and stride when I walk in mine. I feel better when I walk but it took some getting used to because my posture is normally BAD! Now I try to walk more properly in any shoes...and I can feel the difference. Kind of like when I was doing the WiiFit and I notice my center of balance more.

Most women who I see actually tell me they're cute, and do they work, and where'd I get'tem LOL!

The numbing goes away with use. I don't get that at all anymore. The only thing I would suggest, is perhaps not wearing them everyday without some other type of shoe at times. That's what I did, put them on in the morning, took them off at night and didn't wear any other shoes for a few months and when I did try, I'd have a sore back from the other shoes lack of posture. The Sketchers force you into proper posture so if you aren't conscious of that, you tend to fall back into bad posture which is exaggerated by weeks of good posture. But its just a theory.

Gina, which ones did you get?

Mine are the light sudedy tan colored ones...THESE. I have this same color in a regular tennis shoe and love the look. Matches my wardrobe well since I wear a lot of brown and earth tones.

I like those better. Mine are the all black ones, which were the only ones available in town when I got mine months ago.

Oooh thanks for the review on these! Maybe next time I splurge on myself, I'll get 'em. I've been wondering if they do anything positive!

"Champion" makes a line similar to the Reebok Easy/Run Tones, at Payless...I believe they were in the $30 range. With how tough I am on shoes it's not usually worth it to buy cheap shoes, but I've been considering them to see how I feel about that type of shoe before I drop $100. If those sneakers make my rear end look anything like the model I'm in.
