Ok -- Fairy Dust aside (Callie/Tink)

So this morning was the "regular" vet -- I don't have the bloodwork yet (tomorrow) but he cleaned her ears deeply (thankful that Dr. D restrained herself last night cos she left it so HE could see today).  So she's on Zymox daily (with the blue power ear stuff at the other end of the day).

But amongst all else he did he did a super fecal -- no parasites but she's got a gut full of bacteria. (which is exactly what Dr. D said - she just said it in TCVM speak rather than micorscope speak LOL).  He gave me metranydazole which I'll use IF the stuff Dr. D gave me doesn't kick it w/in 5 days (the two things she wants me to give her that are herbs WILL kill the bacteria -- it literally was the same diagnosis ... which really tickled me)

It's too funny -- I was trying to teach her "Donate" (which is my word for Billy to "hold it" til we get to the vet and then let the girls collect a fresh sample EASY -- he will literally hold it until they get the pan down there and say "Donate";) cos she thot I'd lost my mind not letting her pee before we left home (isn't it in the RULES you gotta pee before you get in Mom's car???)

The one tech came outside and chased her liddle butt for a few seconds but then she obliged -- "but dang -- she stuck that blue thing UNDER me and then I couldn't STOP!!!"  Then I said "Tink GOOD GIRL that's DONATE!!"

Yes, my dog did think I was certifiable -- but she's connected word with deed now and got heavily praised for it by both the tech and I so .... sometimes you just gotta humor the humans ya no???

The homotox treatments she gets from Dr. Demers involves him taking a little blood from her each time and then he makes a serum from her blood to treat the skin ... and it DID usually make her feel better pretty quick (back when she was itchy from the demodex.

So MY dog thinks when somebuddy takes blood from her it's supposed to make her BETTER.  So she was no problem for the blood draw this morning -- and heck -- THEY HAD TREATS!!!

I saw the slide myself this morning and yep -- "bacteria overgrowth" about describes it.  Easily fixed (and wouldh't happen if I could disconnect her mouth from stuff she shouldn't EVER eat *sigh* -- I SO wish I could walk her to potty but I can't).

She'll start to feel better now -- I'm just glad it was all easily fixable.  But I can't wait to see that bloodwork --

Ticked off Tinkerbell this morning -- she tried really hard to blend into the stockade fencing and just stay outside ... and once in she really did NOT want any part of getting stuff in her ears.

Little rosebud ears were HOT this morning -- so I'm going to default back to JUST the Blue Power stuff (the Zymox just isn't enough this time) twice a day for two weeks and THEN we'll see.  Poor wee baby --

I've used the Blue Power stuff on MYSELF -- and I tell you -- nothing soothes sore ears like it!! You'd think the alcohol would hurt -- but it really doesn't - a very brief flash.  And the relief you get with the boric acid is incredible.  But after using it on my OWN ears I'm really happy using it.

I'm glad it wasn't anything serious. I hope the blood work is good. I took Jessie in before when she seemed off; she wasn't out ahead of me during our walk but was walking quietly next to me instead, and didn't eat with the usual enthusiasm. Like Tink, she had an ear infection. It may seem silly to take them to the vet with such vague symptoms, but it can prevent small problems from becoming more serious.

Absolutely -- I can't imagine letting something go when they've giving me an indication that all is not ok.

INTERESTINGLY -- I got the bloodwork back today -- and Dr D (TCVM vet) said the other day "hmm, she's a little livery -- nothing huge, but the liver is 'off' a bit"

YEP IT IS -- the AltPhos is off -- not hugely high and it is the ONLY liver level to be off -- but likely just enough to steer things off course and likely off enough to allow the skin in the ears to flare up.

In talking to my regular vet tonight -- I just think it is so KEWEL that Dr D can tell the liver is "off" just by feeling the pulses and by the color of her tongue ... I mean dang ... that's incredible.

I'm glad it's nothing too serious.   Feel better soon, Tink!

Im glad Tink is okay! Sounds like you have a awesome doc, keep with them.

How's Tink been doing these last few days?  Good to hear both doctors are on the same track.

I've got her in my thoughts and prayers.  Keep us posted.

I'm so glad that you were able to get to the bottom of it.  I hope her ears clear up fast.

They really aren't -- I'm a bit concerned that there may be *deep* bacteria -- her little ears are SO hot and doing the Blue Power stuff for almost a full week they shouldn't be.  Soooooooooooooooo I think I"m going to start the Momentamax that I brought home "just in case".  This just plain sucks for her.

She is however FEELING BETTER.  For the first time in a couple of weeks, when I sat down in my chair I got "pug attacked" (where she wants me to let her jump up on my well-endowed chest from her stand on the futon).  She KNOWS she's gotta have an invite to do that -- but she hasn't wanted to in almost 10 days.  I'm thrilled.

Poor little girl.  Is the Momentamax a stronger med to use?

HEHEHEHE  too funny!  At least she's feeling better!  I wonder if this might mean the ears are getting better or do you think it might be the liver getting better?  Either case...GREAT to hear she's feeling gooood!

The ears remain cool tonight  so I'm putting off the Momentamax (it's a pretty strong ear goop for both yeast and bacteria -- it's apharmaceutical rather than the enzymatic that Zymox is or just the uncomplicated Blue Power stuff -- which is boric acid to sooth, alcohol as an anti-bacteria and gentian violet for yeast).  I know the Blue Power takes a while to truly work -- and it's awesome to get rid of wax, but I usually get results before this ... you GOTTA do it for two weeks -- and I'm gonna hold out a while longer IF her ears are cool to the touch in the morning - I just don't want the inflammation to go on.
