I love both.  But I don't feel that they belong in captivation,

Being a dog lover you'd fit in here (except for the owning a wild animal thing [8|]) hang around here, we can help and learn from each other. [:D]

yeah, but i can discuss everything here, there. Why are you guys pressuring me to stay? You have thousands of members, and on my forum I only have 6, 6! I may decide to visit regulary here, but I would appretiate it if people joined my forum as well. And I do not want to own a wild animal, obviously I'd want it to be tamed. Not wild!

You really don't need to know much 'bout wolves and foxes, just participate in the dog kennel part and the games and off-topic and you're more than set.

Thanks, still testing a few things to make it look even better.

I'd like new members to enjoy greeting, but . . .[:(]. I'm advertising on tons  of dog forums and wolf forums and fox forums. But to no avail. I need new members [:(][:(].

TheWhiteFox... It seems to me that the reason why nobody is jumping on the bandwagon is because roaming around existing boards trying to rook those members into joining a new board is... well... kind of rude. Bad form really. On the other hand, in the event that some of us were to get to KNOW you, and YOUR dog(s) then wouldn't it follow that we could make our way there if your new site was in your profile, if we so wished?? Just my two cents. I think the method is rather suspect, and although your new site might be nice enough, I doubt you'll get many new members in this fashion.

Well, we all have our opinions about wild animals. Who says they can't be tamed?

I'm sorry, being a bit of a... naturalist I guess you could say, I am completely apposed of keeping wild animals as pets. Dogs are the true definition of tame, they are fairly reliable (behaviorally), and they have been around humans for thousands of years. Foxes and wolves have not, and cannot simply be "tamed" nor do I believe it is right to take an animal such as a fox or wolf and put it into the confines of our home. I love the animals the way they are, wild and only restricted by their enviroment. I even dislike zoos because they DO NOT keep wild animals properly (i.e. in anything close to their naturally occuring enviroment).

On top of all of that, WAY TOO MANY people take a wild animal (that which has not been domesticated) and expect it to act like a big, lovable dog/cat/what have you. When it grows up and doesn't act like that anymore, but rather acts like a big adult whateveritis, they mistreat it, take it to the vets to euthanize it, or release it on an unsuspecting enviroment. When, if they had just gotten a cat/dog/what have you, things might have been better; although, that type of person would probably do the same to any other animal.

The ultimate way to show love to a wild animal species (fox, wolf, cougar, moose, lion, tiger, or bear) is to let it be.  In the wild, the animal is not expected to conform to our stupid societal rules (that is, expectations we put on our pets), it is free to behave in a manner that comes natural to it. Even better, donate money to the research and preservation of such valuable species.

(The White Fox said: I completely agree that foxes or wolves would be not so easy to tame and agree that animals should be as they were intended to be. But I have no pets [except to retarded cats, everyone in my family wants to get rid of them because they're gonna get themselves killed.] that are enjoyable to be around. I am a huge fan of foxes and would like to know one even if it was still wild and I just fed it whenever it comes by.)

(The White Fox said: If I ever got a pet fox [which will never happen, only in my dreams], I'll be sure to take good care of it and never mistreat it. I love animals too much to mistreat them, even my cats [how i want to get rid of them] I don't mistreat them at all. And foxes are very adaptive and are adapting to ural areas so it won't be too . . . 'upset' of its unnatural enviroment.)

(The White Fox said: If I do ever get a fox, I will be living on my own and will not live in a city or neighborhood [i hate the cramped, polluted areas.] I should, hopefully be living in the country of I-don't-know-where-yet. I agree with leaving them alone but . . . it'd be nice to at least help them in some way. And for donating money, if I did, I would like to see it going for a good cause personally. I don't trust many donation places [who knows how much they keep for themselves]. However, at the age of sixteen, I don't have very much money nor a job. I only have 300 dollars that I'm saving up to buy a dog.

I think we all need to stop assuming that every new person that shows up is an adult.  Lately we have jumped all over a bunch of kids for things we take for granted.

WhiteFox, I love foxes and wolves too.  When I was young there was a fox that used to come around and would eat out of the palm of our hands.  It was just a tiny kit when it started and we thought it was soo cute.  That poor creature was killed by someone with less humane intentions because it was not afraid of people.  I feel completely responsible for that.  You just simply cannot own a wild animal.  You cannot tame them.  Dogs are tame(domesticated) because they have been that way for untold generations.  Their instincts have been altered through years of planned breeding.  Taking the qualities we favour, and breeding to acheive those qualities.  Foxes and wolves have not been domesticated.  They are the origional forefathers of our domesticated dogs.  All of thier instincts are still intact.  Ranging instincts, mating instincts, heirchy, hunting, everything that makes them wild creatures is still there and thriving.  Even if they were born in captivity they have not been captive long enough to make happy healthy pets.  And the key word is happy.  Sure you would look cool walking around with a fox on a leash, or a wolf following at your heals but that animal would be miserable.  In taking care of it you would be stifling its quality of life.

Get a husky.  I own 3 and trust me they are as close to wild animals as i would ever want to own.  They have a strict heirchy, a prey drive that has to be met everyday, a need to run in big open spaces, and a stubborn mind that tries with all its might to make them disobey.  When you own a husky and treat it the way it deserves to be treated, and not like you believe a dog should be treated, then you start to develop a keen awareness of the needs of other creatures.  Huskies do not conform well to the average dog owners perception of how dogs should be handled.

That's sad about the fox, stupid inhumane people.

I'm actually looking for a husky right now, have been for several months. I can't find any, within my price range which is about 300-400 dollars. I have 300 saved up but i might be able to get another 50-100 from my mom because she knows that all the other of us kids (5 of us) also want a dog. We've been some state of 'depression' for over 3 years now, since the divorce. We havn't owned a dog since, constantly moving around, not owning our own house and so on, so on. (Well, that's my pathectic life story that no one cares about.) Now that we own our own house, I'm looking for a husky. So, if i could get a husky within my price range, that'd be great. And I won't stop looking.

Zach I do care about your problems, I am very sorry to hear about your parents divorce, it is very difficult on everybody. I think a dog is just what the doctor ordered for you guys, but the only way it will help heal you is if you all take care of his/her training, excersising, feeding and grooming that, will form the bond that you all need so badly. Well that's four jobs that each of you can specialize in we need a fifth hmm.
Oh yeah and dogs are great listeners and cuddlers, and who can help but smile when you get home and some goofball is making the biggest fuss in the world over the fact.
I know my guys make me laugh out loud at least 6 times a day.
Hang in there and take care of you.

Thank you. Well, now day, a lot of people get divorced. I just was forced on the bandwagon with the other millions of mid-age teens who parents are divorced. I hope to get a dog soon, goal is for me to get one at least at the end of the summer.
