weigh in on Roscoe's sister options

fwiw - my vote is for Gracie.  I think her being submissive to Roscoe from the onset will work well if she comes to live with you.  She also allowed you to touch her and she leaned in against you - to me that's total trust.  She's also such a cutie.[:D]

The only votes that that matter are yours and DH's LOL but here's my 2 cents:

I vote Gracie based on her interaction with you and Roscoe, confidence with new situations can be built up with training.  All dogs are not the same but Tulip reminds me of my foster dog who was aloof at first and I was lulled into thinking he and my dog would get along - unfortunately after a month of living together that no longer is true and I play musical dogs with them until Buddy finds his forever home.  This may never happen with Tulip but just something to be aware of.

Whatever you decide - Good luck!

My vote is for Gracie but with reservations.  It sounds to me like you're telling yourself that you HAVE to choose one of these three dogs.  Even though Gracie sounds to me like a perfect fit for you & Roscoe, you have reservations.  Maybe you need to keep looking.
OTOH I love Tulips look.  But then I' m a sucker for black & tan :o)

Totally AWESOME advice, guys! Thanks!!  Lots to consider and think about.  I forget who said it, but we do kinda feel like we need to pick on of these girls just because we feel awful about leaving them in a shelter situation. Duffy is in a good foster home, so he is not as sad a case.  Gracie has been there a couple weeks, but Tulip has been at the shelter for 3 months. She's got Big Black Dog syndrome.

But really neither of them feel right and Duffy isn't logically right, so I guess we'll probably keep looking.  I brought up the possibility of fostering Tulip to get her out of the shelter, on a good diet so her coat gets soft and shiny, trained, etc. and just keeping her 'til someone else takes her.  But then do we want to get in a situation where we're basically permanent fosters 'cause no one wants her?

This is waaaaay harder than getting Roscoe was. [sm=uhoh.gif]

Jen, take your time & choose the perfect kid for you & your situation.  I think you'll be glad you did.

I'm coming in on this late, but I agree with Annie.  If you don't think they are the right dog, don't do it.  I know it's hard to leave those sweethearts behind, but you have to be fair to everyone involved.  Go with your gut, you'll know when it's right.

But, I'm really excited to see Roscoe's new sibling all the same! YAY!  [:)] [:)] [:)]
