I hate pre-spring time - A, it's a tease, and B, it brings me Cadbury Mini Eggs, which are guaranteed to add 3-4lbs onto my gut just at the time when spring/summer clothes - particularly the bathing suits - start appearing in stores.  I wish the pygmys were eating salad over here - they're eating Cadbury Mini Eggs.

Amanda, I have a full cup of coffee it you need it...  What did DH say about the beach house situation?

Off to get myself another cup of coffee, in case Amanda needs mine.

I can't remember when I last got to read, much less post on MC.  Amanda, the beach house sounds wonderful.  We will need pictures.

Sharon, sorry you're having such a crappy day.   I hope it improves.

Lies, that sounds so exciting to maybe get on TV.  I'd probably be so nervous, I'd trip on my own feet and fall on the dog and end up in the blooper clip.  Good luck this weekend!

I called the nursing supervisor at the rehab place this morning.  I had some concerns over their care of Charles' colostomy after my visit with him yesterday.  I'll spare everyone the details.  I was nice to the woman but expressed how I felt very clearly.  I did make the comment that it would be a shame for him to successfully recover from the brain aneurism only to die from an infection.  That seemed to get her full attention.  I will definitely be on top of this situation. It could have been a miscommunication problem.  He's doing well overall.  His appetite is back now that he's exercising.  He's keeping a daily journal which will help with his memory problems.  The speech therapist works with him on the short term memory issue.  Hopefully that will resolve but only time will tell.  Everyone keeps asking me how long he will be there but there is no answer to that question.  They say they will have a better idea next week but that there is no way to predict when he can go home.  He's working really hard toward that goal.  Right now I try to just take things one day at a time.  I could worry myself sick with the "what ifs?" but just force myself to stay positive.

It feels good to have a few minutes to catch up here a little even it it's just with the posts here on MC.

Jackie, glad to hear Charles is in rehab and doing well so far.  I bet you could borrow the 2x4 if you needed to really whip them into shape at the rehab place!  Have you been able to settle into routine of sorts?  Still thinking of you guys!

Can't wait for today to be over.  it's "spring holiday" so we're off tomorrow and I took Monday off as well.  Not as relaxing as it should be, since the boss has been away so it's been fairly quiet, but nice to catch up on the stuff I need to for work.

Amanda, I second the request for pictures if you're able to get some.  It sounds like a great place!

    Hip hip horray !!!

    Jackie's here !!!

I know you're a fierce mama bear who will make sure that Charles gets nothing but top notch care !!!

Yay Jackie!  It's great to see you here.  We've all missed your input.  Now is when you need to become Charles' biggest advocate.  I know you can do it.  I get the feeling that at a certain point some rehab/hospitals rest on their laurels of become lax on patient care.  I'm not saying all but some do.  I know that dealing with my dad & his issues, I had to become a watchdog.  Really not my style.  I felt that the facilities that he was in kept setting him up for failure.  Anyway, we're still pulling for you & the C-man. :)  I hope you can sneak Miss Belle into see him.  Maybe you can take a shirt of his or a towel or something to collect his scent for her to snuccgle with.  That might help her missing him.

    ((HUGS))

     Yay Jackie's here!  ::::waves madly::::

Glad that he's doing well over all and also glad you got through to the nurse, and she might not know it, but she's glad you didn't have to get the 2x4.

Lies, if you get on Animal Planet let us know, I'm sure we'll all try to watch.

Amanda that beach house seams so perfect, I hope it works out for you.

    • Gold Top Dog

Jackie!!!  So good to see you here in MC!  Also so glad to hear about Charles.  And I agree with the others, I know you'll help keep the rehab folks from slacking off. Yes

    • Gold Top Dog

WhooHooo!!  Jackie's here, if only for a few minutes!  Way to stay on top of the rehab hospital staff.

Paige, I'll take the coffee.  I don't really need to toss it at anyone yet, but I could use a cup anyway.  DH knows that I'm looking at a house.  He isn't fully aware of how serious I am about it.  When I told him, he said "if that's what you want, go for it."

Nicole, here's a pic.  It's larger than what I'd like, but the price is good, & I love the house.

Bitch count is up to 9.  I'm on a roll.

Jackie - glad to see you back in here.  I know there's been a spotlight on you that may have felt uncomfortable, so feel free to resume your place in the chorus here. Stick out tongue  You can dance with Deb's pygmys, if you feel the need to break out again.

Why do I bother trying other flavors when hot coffee with coconut creamer really makes me happiest?  Story of my life - always trying new things to see if I like them better.

Jackie - "HI"...so good to see you feeling a bit mindless this morning with the rest of us. I have no doubt that with you overseeing the care Charles gets, he's going to be just fine. Yeah, one foot in front of the other for now though. (((HUGS)))

Amanda - That house looks awesome and big enough for all us girls to come party at. Just let us know when it's yours.

I read about your visit with your grandmother and I'm so sorry. I went thru visits like that with my dad and it was heartbreaking and like you, sometimes I barely made it outside before I fell apart. I tried to console myself with the thought that he didn't mind his situation as much as I did, and it helped a bit.

I got in the car this morning and the "low tire" indicator came on. I headed straight for the dealership and DH met me there. It only took about 30 min's to get the screw out of the rear tire and patch it, so I should be glad but it's the 3rd tire repair I've had on this car. I know it performs best with soft tires, but I'm pretty sick of dealing with the problems.

I managed to convince the boss that we need to switch our copier lease to a machine that does color. I'd tried to talk him in to it a few yrs ago and he thought we didn't really need it. Fortunately, a great salesman was able to work a deal where it won't cost any more and the boss had no reason to object. Yay!!

Ditto what everyone else said Jackie, it's good to see you again :)

Amanda, that beach house is beautiful :)

It. is. so. warm. here. and. sunny. I love it! I'm wearing short sleeves with no jacket, in March, in Ontario! I bought cadbury cream eggs at lunch at ate all three of them. I also bought those wopper style easter eggs, but I haven't broken into them yet.

We are meeting a trainer tonight to see about starting Timmy in beginner's agility classes in April - hopefully that goes well. Timmy would love it. He loves training or working. He is just so happy go lucky. I love that about him. It's really hard to see how Rottweilers can have such a bad name when I live with him. I do think that seeing a Rottweiler do agility will be rather silly looking, I've been giggling about it to myself.
