M/C Wed-nes-day

Attention everyone, there is an Aussie in the house!

Handsome, black try. I'll try to pictures tomorrow before work... hopefully the impending rain can hold off for me!

I haven't gotten ANYthing census related! I feel left out.

I made really good chicken parm for dinner, and when I had to go back to the store for pasta I got stuff for strawberry shortcake too. I finished my shortcake but had one whipped-topping-less bite left, so I got the whipped topping back out and now I'm eating it off a spoon. I. can't. stop.

It's early to bed for me all - Pi and Tiki have the first appointment at our holistic vet, and with the early morning traffic, it's a 60+ minute drive.

Paige, when you are giving people the finger & talking *** to them, you MUST remember to throw your coffee or water at their car.  Trust me, their reaction is soooo worth the loss of your drink.

    I had a good & bad day.

Bev, Cher, & I went to the beach, which was fun. It was terribly foggy, so Cher didn't get the luxury of going off leash, although she didn't seem to mind. We had a great mini-training session, & then we had a great run on the beach. Bev went swimming as per normal. Some days, I swear that he's part lab because of his swimming obsession.

During our run, I saw a great house for sale. After the hurricane destroyed our beach house, I swore that I would never have another beach house. Suddenly, I have changed my mind. I called the realtor, & she came down to show me the house. After seeing it, I am in love with it, & pending an insurance inspection tomorrow, I fully intend to buy it. I NEVER make big purchases without a ton or consideration, & research, but I am ready to make an offer as soon as I find out if it is able to be insured. DH is going to *** a brick sideways when I tell him that I bought a beach house.

We took the long drive home so that I could stop by & see my grandmother. Both Bevo & Cher came in with me to see her. She didn't recognize me at all, even after I reminded her who I was. She thought that I was just someone who was there visiting. She told me about her granddaughter "Amanda" who has a dobe, & that the reason that her granddaughter had fallen in love with the breed was because she & my grandfather had dobes when I was young.

The closest that she came to recognizing me was when she told me that "Amanda" & I had the same eyes. Then she went on to say that I had "sorrowful eyes" while Amanda had "an emptiness" about her eyes, "like she is missing the one thing that makes her happy." It's strange to hear what other people see in your eyes.

I did make it out of the building before I fell apart. I was really proud of myself for making it the the car before I lost it.

I went to Pet-Co earlier and after I backed out of the parking space and started away, this little dog dashes in front of me pretty much across two lanes of cars to get up on the grassy hill to pee.  This dog is on a flexi (it must have been the 32 ft. one to let him get that far away from the car) and his owner is still standing at her car door with the leash handle in her hand. *sigh* Does the woman have no sense at all about reeling it in and locking it when she has the dog out in traffic? The only good thing was that it was still pretty early in the day and  there wasn't a huge amount of traffic in the shopping center.

It rained a bit last night because I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of *drip, drip, drip* - sounded just like a leaky faucet except that it was outside.  I need to find what it was dripping from and move whatever it is somewhere else.

If I'd had one, I would have probably done it.  My coffee comes after I get off the train at the other station, so I was empty-handed.

I'm really, really sorry about the visit to your grandmother.  I also know how Alzheimers or dymentia completely rearranges your relationship w/your grandmother and how painful that can be.  Here's something to think about - maybe she remembers you from a time when you may not have been as fulfilled as you are today with your husband and the boys... Maybe so much so, that you look like a different person.  The sorrow today may have been real because of her condition, but I'd want to think it's a good thing that she doesn't see what she called the "emptiness" anymore.  I know that doesn't change the fact that she didn't recognize you, but I really do want to believe it's good that she doesn't recognize "something missing" in you today.

HUGS - and congrats on the house!  Sounds like a meant-to-be sort of thing.

Edit to add: didya ever notice that Jack from Jack In The Box has two Dobes??  As seen in the background as he's working on his car... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQfJGZvKF0Y

Oh, and a Dobe from DRU eating from the whipped cream can.  (watch withOUT the sound - there's some weird TV commercial in the background...)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nyCVX0fOtk

    Thanks Paige, I needed that.

I never noticed Jack's dobes.  I missed them the first time, & had to watch it again....after begging DH to go to Jack in the Box to get me a bacon ultimate cheeseburger.  (He went!!!  I'm not even thinking about how many calories I had today.)

Eating out of the whipped cream can is hilarious!!!

(((hug)))  That has to be so hard Amanda.  Good for you for being able to wait till you got outside to be upset.
