Best All Around Dog Leash?

I am seriously considering an ASAT lead after reading all the rave reviews, but I can't seem to find one light enough for my dogs.

Really?  The ASAT I use for tracking and protection is 1/2" or less, and it's a lighter weight ASAT than the other stuff my breeder sells (which is heavier and looks/feels more like leather but is still synthetic).  I use this thin, lightweight ASAT for doing bark and hold in protection so I can achieve very subtle, accurate line handling.

ETA:  I measured it and mine is 1cm, exactly.

Yes. That is wider than I want, and I haven't touched them, but I'm guessing the clip is significantly heavier than what they're used to. I get things with tiny clips, so small they wouldn't go on some of the d rings on Emma's wider collars.

The snap on the 1cm was too small/not strong enough, I actually added a bigger one.  I have this nylon "toy dog lead" I got at a pet store, I think it's 4' and like 1/4".  The width of the lead and the size of the snap is comparable.  The nice thing is that the ASAT won't run and fray like nylon, I just cut it whatever length I want and re-attach whatever snap I want.  Originally the lead was 35' but I've made various lengths from that (but I don't like handles on my leads).

Where did you get it from?

I buy everything at cost through my breeder but she usually uses dogsportgear.

    It could be the 3/8"

A lot of places make their leads. If you email them, I bet they'd be willing to put a ring instead of a snap. I am seriously considering an ASAT lead after reading all the rave reviews, but I can't seem to find one light enough for my dogs.

Thanks for the tip, jennie. I'm going to email them now and see what they say, and also what they recommend personally for me. In the end, I might need two anyway. One for dogs who don't need loose leash training, and one for those that do. What I would do is attach the regular lead to a harness like the EasyWalk. However, I would still need a second one on the dog in case the dog gets out of the harness. Although, the owner should have a leash already. And as I'm trying to keep upstart costs at a minimum, it would be smart to get just one right now. Decisions, decisions...
