If it's any comfort, if they took her to Ocean State Veterinary Specialists here in RI, it's one of the best around this area. I took Willow there when she was diagnosed with IMT for a second opinion.
Yes thats the place that they took her.
We had Abbey PTS about an hour ago.
I went over there this morning to talk to her and get the full story. So, when they got the x rays and unltrasound at the vet in RI they found she had a tumor on her spleen, liver, and multiple ones on her lungs. They said they could take the spleen out, but there really wasnt anything they could do for the one on the liver. She was bleeding internally, wouldnt eat and was drinking a TON of water. She wouldnt walk last night, and had to be carried outside to go potty. When I went there this morning I brought Bailey with me, and seeing her boyfriend really perked her up. She walked around a little but she was really weak and if she stodd still her legs would slide out from under her. She was having a really hard time breathing. Every 20 mins or so she would start making these coughing/hacking noises, it sounded like her lungs were underwater. The vet said there was probably blood in her lungs, so she would start having breathing problems. She was going to bring her back to the vet in RI on monday, but her breathing was getting worse and she just wasnt Abbey anymore. It was so horrible, because when she said "Wanna go for a ride?" Abbey got all excited and wlak over to the door, and then we'd think maybe she might be OK, then she would start choking again. She was only 9 years old and only just last week she was acting like a puppy...I cant believe how fast she went downhill. She wanted to have her put down at her house, but the vet only had one docter there today, and we didnt think we should wait any longer... so we brought her into the vet, with her favorite stuffed toys and her blankie. They had to do it pretty quick, because she was coughing and choking when she layed down. She layed on her mommys lap and i held her paws until she was gone.
Im turning the leather collar i was making her for x mas into something she can hang up or wrap around whatever she puts Abbeys ashes in.
RIP Abbey
