The worrying thing for me is that her liver is enlarged?? Dr. S said that it's more than likely from protein that's kind of sluffed off by her ailing heart? Does this make sense to anyone?
Just for a minute think like a holistic vet rather than a regular vet (that's not a slam -- it's literally a directional switch from how we normally think) --
The blood that goes thru the heart is then pumped thru the body and filtered by both kidneys and liver to return to the heart and be pumped out again. So the pont is whatever affects the heart, affects the cells of the body (getting oxygen FROM the heart) and also it will affect the kidneys and liver which *process* that blood.
The heart isn't working efficiently -- not only that but there are more toxins in the body from all the meds. so blood can sit too long IN the heart (when it doesn't get pumped back out efficiently) and I'm not sure whether she means that the muscles of the heart themselves are losing integrity or if the blood going thru the heart leaves a residue because it's not moving fast enough.
But essentially ANY time you have heart difficulties you have difficulties with the kidneys and liver. A liver problem will affect the kidneys and heart and a kidney problem affects the liver and the heart. Because whichever one isn't working right somehow is going to leave slack for the other organs to pick up on.
to a greater or lesser degree the spleen also is involved.
I'd be using milk thistle and probably Sam-e. Both will help the liver detox and work better.
Are you using Co-Q-10 to help maximize the cells receiving oxygen?
I know you aren't really close to one, but man I wish you had a TCVM vet that could work with you -- simply because there are herbss that can help calm the liver down and "soothe" it. (Billy takes gobs of it.)
Also **remember** the liver is the only organ that can actually regenerate - so if you get things moving more smoothly again, you can get the liver back in line.
