**Update He's HOME!!!**Lost Alaskan Husky, I-90 East, Enterprise rest area, (outdoorshchik)

Anyone on here from the Wilson or Witoka Minnesota area? This morning my boyfriend was traveling with 20 sled dogs he had picked up from Montana that were coming to work with us for the winter. He stopped at the rest stop on Interstate 90 Eastbound, 35 miles out of LaCrosse Wisconsin, to let the dogs stretch (attached by drop chains to the truck) and Godzilla broke through his clip and escaped. Looking back only once, he panicked and ran to the highway and never returned. They called and called and waited nearly all day. The dog never returned.

He is an unneutered male, Alaskan Husky, maybe 4-5 yrs old, light tan on his legs and face and grey on his back and tail. He's wearing a blue collar with a fleece lining and it says "Godzilla" on it. He may have a tag that says Iditarod on it.

We are heartbroken for the dog and his owners. I've contacted every vet and rescue in the Witoka County and LaCrosse area as well as the sheriff dispatch, Lacrosse Tribune, Winona Daily News and the Winona Radio. Any other thoughts? Does anyone on here know that area?

It is one thing to lose your own dog, that is horrid enough, but this was a dog that was entrusted to our care for the winter, this is ... very sad.

Just wanted to let you know I forwarded his picture and your post to my brother in law who is a police officer for the LaCrosse police dept.  I'm going to be thinking of you, and hoping you find him safe and sound!

Ack! Ok, K9 Amber alert ASAP.

It is deer season, bow only for the next 2 weeks or so.

here are a list of  shops that cater to hunting and are in that area, you can probably use it to find others for possible flyer's to be put in.

I am sure you can find the same over the border. You also might try some hunting sites if you can find one in that area. There are also bear hunters that use dogs, they might have some knowledge of the area and able to help you.

See if you can find some outfitters like this one in that area or Minn.

Thanks so much ... I've never met this dog in person, but I've been crying on and off all day for him. Even though he was 35 miles out of LaCrosse, it's certainly possible he could wind up there. If your brother in law has any suggestions, I'll take them... it is so difficult, being here and not knowing that area.

Truley, I didn't think of posting at hunting stores, I will certainly try that, thanks! I hope he doesn't chase game ... I know it's hunting season. He was just so scared, coming from Alaska, I'll bet the highway sounds terrified him.

Silly question ... how do you PM someone if you don't see a recent post by them? I only know how to do it that way. Also, I joined the k9amber alert yahoo group ... just waiting for approval.

Type her name in the search box, then find a post by her and click her name to get to her profile.

I misread your OP. If he is lost on the Mn side you need to check hunting season dates for MN, which I believe are earlier. Either way using people that are going to be out and about is your best bet. It is not a lost cause to do Wisconsin side. Hunters know people on both sides.

Winona Mn is the closest big city I found. I found this guys site, can't hurt to ask if he knows someone that might be able to help you with where to post flyers, or how to get the word out to hunters in the area.

And you might want to post a lost dog here:

Oh no!  I'm not much help, but you have my strongest iDog Get to Work vibes ever...(not sure I've ever used those ones...)  Poor boy.  Hopefully he has that tag on his collar and somebody finds him and realizes he's important to someone.

Unfortunately, I'm about 4-5 hours northeast of there, and I don't know anyone in that area. I really hope someone finds him safely.

Not sure if it will be any use but it's worth a try to call any wildlife department in the area.  Here it's called Texas Parks and Wildlife and those officers are out in full force during hunting season and they cover a lot of ground.   I so hope someone finds him soon.

It wouldn't hurt to contact the Rochester Kennel Club, http://rmkc.8m.com/,  Rochester is not far from there and they may have suggestions.

I've emailed everyone in the Rochester Kennel Club ... this is horrible. I finally got in touch with Godzilla's family and they are shocked and distraught. He was a favorite, a leader and a friendly dog that would never run off. I wish this was a bad dream.

editted to add - I'm not ashamed to ask for help, if anyone on here, would be willing to help me design the official LOST flier and help me compile a list of fax numebrs and places to fax it to in Wilson, Witoka, Winona and all surrounding areas as well as actually help me email/fax it around, I'd be forever in your debt. I'm overwhelmed and doing this at work today, and I've got the flu :( I know I've got my hand out right now, but I'm not ashamed to do it, I'm embarassed and saddened we've lost someone else's dog.

First off, accidents happen. Happy friendly dogs with family can and will do strange things with strangers and away from home.

Now, I am knee deep in alligators, if you can get me a copy of a flyer and list of numbers I will do some faxing for you. I think there is some place online that helps you make a flyer for this and I just cannot think of who or what it is called.
