Big dogs vs. small dogs

I have both a large dog and two small ones. I've always had a mix of the two sizes.
I have pretty well mannered small dogs..they have the same rules as the big guy..no excessive barking, no jumping on people, off the furniture unless invited and no pulling on leashes when we walk.  I don't think any are more doted upon..they all get equal lovins.

As far as tripping over dogs go, I step on Legend far more often than the little ones, as he's my shadow and has a tendency to quietly pad behind me and flop down without my knowing.

I don't go through much dog food, even with a large dog, as he's not a big eater. So, my food still last quite a long time.

, there ARE benefits.  Legend was never a puller, even as a young dog. But I am reminded daily at work, when being dragged down the hall by labs and other large dogs, that it's a lot less painful to work with a small dog on not pulling than an 80 lb one[&:]

we have this wonderful command that we've taught ALL the dogs. "Go THAT way" and POINT. All you gotta do is have a verbal 'party' the first time they move where you point and it's a grand GAME that morphs into this wonderful, incredibly HELPFUL command!! It's great for all sizes. truly truly truly.

This is so true! I've been working on Rascal with that - drastically reduces the risk of tripping over him, and he thinks it's the most incredibly fun game in the universe. He knows commands for most rooms in the house (upstairs, downstairs, office, my room) and the ever-helpful "go to your pillow" which roughly translates as "get the heck out of my face, you're being obnoxious." Since he does easily get underfoot it's great to be able to tell him where to go instead of having him try to run in between my legs.

All dogs need lots of attention.  The form of that attention may need to vary depending on the origins of the animal.

I think you can find what you are looking for in many different packages.  Find what appeals to you and start a new journey.

Our version of that is 'Get Outta Here' which probably sounds mean, but it gets them all away when you need them to.  They know if you tell them that then they need to go to another room.
