    How soon?

I just got the pup last night ( [linkhttp://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=42925]http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=42925[/link] ) and the people who gave him to me (couldn't keep him cause they moved into a non-dog allowed home) would like to come visit him.  I told them to give him some time to adjust to me and his new home.  How long do you think we should wait before allowing them to see him again?

    Thanks for your help!

We got a miniature poodle from my friend( she had rescued the dog at 10 months old and was not able to keep her herself, even thou she would have loved to). We already knew the dog, because we visited over there after she had gotten her, several times. Gidget got close to my youngest daughter even then. At the time we did not know that we one day would own her. We were trying to help my friend to find a home for her.
Since my friend saw the bond forming between my then 9 year old daughter and Gidget she wanted her to have her and to my surprise my husband allowed it. Gidget loves my daughter and always is wherever she goes. We have had her for over a year now. Okay, now that I wrote part of a novel once again, to the point that  I was trying to get at: my friend cried her eyes out when she handed Gidget over and Gidget missed her in the beginning so we went to see my friend a few times and brought her along and my friend got a lot of doggie-kisses and on the third visit, when Gidget was tired of visiting she went to the frontdoor when she saw us get ready and impatiently waited for my daughter to put the leash on. She was ready to go. It about broke my friend's heart, but it was official: Gidget wanted to be with us and seemed to be happy with that. We still take her with us occasionally over there and she enjoys playing with my friends' yorkies and being able to run out in the yard with them, but she is always ready to go back home after a while. When we had to give one of our dogs up many years ago we went to see him often in the beginning, but he was fine. He had adjusted in no time. I think it is almost harder on us people than it is on the dog. We also got Chelsea from someone and stayed in touch with her former owner. It's been over 3 years now and my 15 year old daughter, who owns her, still calls this woman and keeps her up-to-date. We have went to see this woman's mother on several occasions so she could see the dog. This family takes their pets to any familyoccasion and so everyone is familiar with eachothers pets. The only reason she gave her up was that she had started her own business and just did not have the time anymore. She knew that my daughter had just lost her beloved dog and so she called her and asked her if she would like to have Chelsea. My daughter adores this dog and she also adjusted rather quickly. When we first got her she also whined and she was shaking, but it did not take long at all for her to feel comfortable around us. I would give it a bit of time thou so your new dog, which by the way is very very cute, gets used to you and then let the people visit with her. I believe it will work out well. I am not sure how much time you should have, I would give it 2-4 weeks, but that is just my opinion. I really can't remember how much time we had before we went to see the previous owners. Believe it or not, but I am really going to finish this now and mail it. I am really exited for you about your new pup.

I would wait between a month or two before letting them come see him. That way he is settled down with you guys and he knows your his new owners. Any sooner and I think he would make a fit when they leave.

I would wait at least a month.  The new kid needs time to adjust to his new pack.  I think that any time sooner than that would just confuse him & possibly sadden him & you.
