Super embarassing ? - need your help!

[sm=blush.gif] Ok, idoggers, I need your help! My boyfriend and I LOVE our doggie to pieces and let him sleep in our bed at night (I know, bad move). We feel since he's in his cage all day while we're at work, that he shouldn't have to sleep there at night, too.

Here's the (embarrassing) question, how do you guys deal with a velcro dog that just will not leave you alone at night? My *ahem* love life is suffering due to my pup always wanting to be around my bf and I. He's the type of dog that will wiggle his way up toward us if we're laying around and just cuddling. And the minute my bf tries to kiss me goodnight, forget it, Odie is right there trying to get one too!

More info: his cage is in our bedroom due to the fact that we have a roommate and I don't want to have to bother them with a barking dog outside of our room. So other than a well filled Kong, what are some ways I can distract my pup so my bf and I can *ahem* enjoy ourselves again without any doggie interuption??? [sm=blush.gif]

Crate him while you guys *ahem* show your affection, and then uncrate when you're finito. Or, you can give him a bed, and teach him to go to his bed. If he offers to get on the bed before you invite him, in the crate he goes. A few times of this and he'll figure it out pretty quick. I can speak to this from experience, after experiencing cold noses in inappropriate places, and the ensuing giggle-fest and mood killing that followed. [:D]

LOL Sounds like my dog! When my DH and I are cuddling he feels like he's missing out and will shove his face right in ours when we're kissing or will cram himself between me and DH. And during our 'bonding' session he'll often curl right up next to one of us or start licking our leg or something lol. At first it was a little irritating and distracting but I think he gets the hint of whats going on and will just lay there and fall asleep. If it really becomes bothersome for you may just crate him. We've done it a few times when we really just want our alone time. But like i said we dont even notice him anymore. He'll just curl up and sleep somewhere on the bed.

For distractions we'll often give him one of his favorite bones or ;pig ears brand new.

Wow!  I can't imagine any of my dogs getting on our bed without an invitation!  they just flat out don't do it.  Good luck solving this problem.

I just tell Sofie to get down and she does. I don't know how I taught her that....actually, I don't know how I taught her lots of what she knows, LOL.

I felt the same way about Kayla... she just knew what I wanted...

Kayla would get all involved if we were trying to do anything at first, but then she just quit and layed out of our way and slept after a while.

I agree with what everyone has said and if you need some alone time, crate him until you are done.... and if he makes noises to get out of the crate while you are trying to get your time, then aside from teaching him to get down and stay down, maybe he will just get used to it after a while and stay out of your way.

well you could always sleep on the sofa w/the dog while the BF gently snores away in another room [8|][;)]
at least that's how things work in my house - reproduction years are over so who cares [:D]
actually mh DH's snoring causes the avalanches on Mt. Washington. We have to rewallpaper the room biannually cause his snoring sucks the paper right off the walls. The neighbors quite often put a noise complaint in on us. We've had to have the cracks in the foundation of our house repaired multiple times.
All kidding aside I do sleep in the living room with Molly and up to 3 cats so it's not an issue at our house - but on the infrequent occasion that it does - we simply shut the bedroom door.

Since she is so happy to be with you both, why not make a special treat for her when you wish some time alone. Maybe a kong or something along those lines.  Liz

My bf and I get a kick out of the fact Zoe stays out of our way but as soon as we finish, she can tell and runs over to us and chases my bf if he gets up :).  Overall, she just relaxes out of our way.  We don't know if her old owners trained her about this somehow hehe.

Hehe I agree with  that.  No one likes a cold nose lol  *cough* [:D]
