Alternative to the Halti-collar?

My husband rides with our 80 lb. shepherd mix, and has tried a number of configurations.  Right now, Gandolf is on a harness, and he is attached to the back of the bike with a homemade device, kind of like a springer (check out [linkhttp://www.springerusa.com]www.springerusa.com)[/link].  He would tell you that you have much more control of the bike with the attachment in the back - with the attachment on the front wheel, if your dog is to pull hard enough, it'll turn the wheel, and end-oh you will go.  Also, if the attachment is too high, like it looks like it might be with the walky-dog, the dog could ;pull you over more easily.

I use the Springer.  It attaches under the seat, where the most weight is, which makes it very stable.

All right you guys convinced me to go ahead and buy a Springer [:)]  I'm so excited and I can't wait til it arrives so we can try it out!  I'll have to pop into Petsmart and pick up a harness for her.  I'm so glad I'll actually have a more reliable way of doing this, especially because its so much safer!  Thanks guys [:)]  Nikki will be so happy!

Cool!  I hope you enjoy it.  Here's a picture of me and Tank using ours (its kind of hard to see- the pic was taken too far away).
