Some dogs, believe it or not, don't LIKE to fetch.  I've got one guy who will run after the rest of the crew, but never, EVER, attempts to get the ball.  And, I've find with my six gsds that if I use more than one ball at a time, I'm the one who has to retrieve it because they are only interested in the ball that someone ELSE has.  All of mine will give chase, but not all of them want to pick up the ball, and sometimes it seems they have just as much fun chasing each other as actually getting a ball or frisbee.

When it's too cold or bad for long walks,  I'll sit everyone around me in a circle and take turns doing commands to give them some mental exercise.

     Mine like to play with individual balls and frisbees. Heaven forbid I throw the "wrong" frisbee to a dog!! Frisbees are laid out, they each pick the one they want, and I try to keep them straight. I have to do some walking, as I do have two "catch and release" girls.

     Hide and seek of a ball is also a favorite. They all do a sit or down stay, and I hide the ball. Then I turn them loose to look.

I don't think it's a good idea to play fetch with multiple dogs simultaneously. Dogs can collide and injure each other, fights can break out.

My two don't have a problem playing fetch at the same time.  They each have their own ball and don't go after the other's.  In fact, once Luke has picked "his" ball for the day, he wants nothing to do with Kaiser's.  They're very good about taking turns and waiting for their ball to be thrown.

Kaiser's favorite game, though, is keepaway.  So often times he'll wander around while I play with Luke -- then when we're done I'll give him the ball and he runs around the yard like a mad man while I and/or Luke pretend to chase him around.  Like this:

They also like to have races -- I put them both in a sit or down stay at one end of the yard and then walk to the other end and call them.  Whoever reaches me first gets TWO treats, while the other only gets one.  They caught on to this very quickly and now it's an all out war to get to me first.  We have some very close races!  lol

My dogs have a 45 lb. weight discrepancy but tug is still their favorite game to play together.What the smaller dog lacks in size she makes up for it cunning

I throw the tennis ball for my three dogs at the same time but they have to take turns.  Two sit while one gets the ball and they rotate turns.  Two will sit with no lead but Belle is still wearing a lead that I hold.  She's a work in progress. lol
