why dogs legs kick when you rub the belly?

Grey's never really kicked his leg, but he practically drops to the ground when I scratch his neck and chest. Posted : 4/27/2006 6:15:55 PM I can't say that I agree with that concept.  IMHO it would make more sense that you've hit a "ticklish" (or itchy) spot and it's an instinctive reaction to scratch the stimulated area - either due to irritation or pleasure.   If it were copulation related, it wouldn't make sense that only one leg would kick, because they don't kick their back legs in copulation - those would be firmly planted until a tie, and then only lifted so the dog could turn around.  And the trigger to do that is not external! 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
