Camping out on the couch...(alieliza)

I came home tonight from class at around 9 pm. There was a weird, high pitched beeping noise coming from somewhere... I thought at first it was our bedroom, at the back of the house, but when I let the dogs out I realized it is definitely coming from outside.

It is very strange, and Im totally freaked out by it. It sounds like maybe a fire alarm. I knocked on our upstairs neighbors door, but nobody answered. BF suggested it might be someone's home security alarm, so I locked all the windows and doors. Im alone here (and have been for a couple of weeks!)

Because the beeping hasn't stopped in the hour + i've been home, Im sleeping on the couch (its pretty loud in the bedroom.) Im not sure if there is something I should do.

I've got a terrible cold and all I want to do is curl up in my bed... but thats not going to happen!

call 911 maybe? maybe someone could go and checkit out....

Is it still beeping? You could call your local police and just explain that you're hearing a beeping sound and are concerned that it may be a house alarm, smoke alarm or possible a carbon monoxide detector? (I'm sure if it were a fire you'd be seeing flames by now). Hopefully they'll send someone to the area to check it out.

Ew Creepy! Hope everything is ok. I second calling the police as well. I'd likely not call 911 since it may or may not be an emergency, but I'm sure calling the local number would be sufficient.

Do you have a cardon monoxide alert in your house?

I ask because if you do - you should leave. Really. This summer our AC unit got stopped up(how..?!) and for 2 weeks we were breathing in cardon monoxide or whatever its called. All I know is it's reallly bad - so we installed an alert(sort of like a fire alarm) just in case....

I hope its not that thou.....maybe an alarm clock on the fritz?

We share connected walls (rented townhouses) and our neighbor bex door, her smoke detector was beeping low battery but it was in a weird place on the ceiling near the basement stairs, and she couldn't reach nor use a chair, etc on the stairs to reach it. So it was hours of beeping and me going crazy since I SWORE it was coming from our place before we went over and DH helped her turn it off. She just didn't think the sound carried as much as it did...

So hopefully it was just something like that! Hope you got some sleep...
