so we priced our Disney World package-input

I was just down to Disney October 18-25 this past month.  The weather was absolutely beautiful for the first part of the trip -- daytime highs in the mid-80's and nighttime lows in the mid-70's.  The last two days were spotty with rain and very humid, but it was still liveable (and it definitely emptied the parks out a bit!).

The lines weren't awful.  The longest that my friend and I waited was probably 50 minutes for Rock & Roller Coaster.  If you plan well you can grab a fast pass for a popular ride, then go wait in line somewhere else.  It almost always worked out that by the time we got through with one ride, our fast pass would be ready to go.

The last time we went to Disney was in January, right after the new year -- I think it was January 3 - 13.  That was the BEST time I've ever had.  There were absolutely zero crowds/lines, as we'd just missed the busy time during the holiday.  We still got to see the parks all decorated for Christmas the first few days.  The weather was 60-70 degrees, which was beautiful for a bunch of folks from snow-bound Wisconsin.

In October there were two attractions closed for refurbishment and one water park closed.  In January there were substantionally more things closed (good stuff, like Splash Mountain) and again, one water park.

I always recommend that people stay on property.  They have awesome packages and by the time you figure in theme park tickets the rooms are very cheap.  You also have the bonus of free transportation all over the Disney properties, which saves so much time & hassle.

You can save money booking your Disney vacation if you have a Disney VISA card.  You also earn Disney Dollars for all of your purchases -- I had $70+ in Disney Dollars to spend while I was down there and it paid for many souvineers!

We did the Disney Dining Plan this time and it was very nice not having to worry about meal times or snacks -- just hand over your room key and they deduct an item off your dining plan count.  We actually found it hard to use all of the meals/snacks they give you.  Right before the bus picked us up to go to the airport we were all hitting up the shops to use up the last of our meal plan.  We all had plenty of snacks on the airplane!  lol

January is our favorite time to go, too.  We've been the last two years.  The only drawback is that there's usually at least one ride/attraction closed in each park for renovation.

hmm April is looking actually like the time we'll be going. That 4/3 deal made it around $2300 for five people incl tix and 2 rooms, in a Value place for 7 DAYS..which to me, is a deal. DH found he can get tix at a cut rate thru work so we're exploring room only...but at that time of year I doubt we can get much cheaper than that...with the two rooms/packages like we have. Just ours if my Mom did not come was likely about $1500 which doesn't even use up all our tax rebate check...

    Whee...getting cheaper..me likee!
