Shooter, & Bevo both passed therapy dog evaluations today!
When we arrived, I thought that Bevo wasn't going to get to test because I didn't realize that he would not be allowed to test in a harness. After the Wobbler's diagnosis, he doesn't wear a collar, & I wasn't prepared or willing to collar/leash him because of this. The evaluators & I eventually agreed that he would test wearing a collar, but off leash. He did great, & was willing to do everything that was asked of him. He easily passed his evaluation.
I didn't really expect a lot from Shooter. He has days when he is just as well behaved as Bev. Then he has days when his nose rules him, & he refuses to focus on anything other than all of the great smells. Today, he was totally focused on me. The only little break in his focus was when he was nudged by the wheelchair. He took the bump in stride, but looked over at the evaluator with a very funny, & indignant look. He took everything in stride, & passed his evaluation too.
As a reward, Bev got a watermelon, & Shooter got a baked sweet potato. I also took them to our new property for a run/swim. While there, Shooter caught & killed a snake. The little dog, who had listened so well during his evaluation, totally ignored me as soon as he saw the snake.
At any rate, I am so proud of both of my boys!
