Emma started phenobarbital on Friday. She was a zombie, and we've lowered her dose til she can function. She's feeling much better, now, but... She's got that "starving dog" side effect. She also isn't really together enough to obey a command, right now.
Aside from the obvious (securing the trashcan and cabinets, removing food from counters), anything else I can do? I mean, this is a totally polite dog who has only ever stolen ONE time in her five years, leaping onto the dining table while people are eating, AFTER she's been given her meal. She's getting plenty to eat, of course. This is a dangerous behavior, for obvious reasons, and also because Emma has real, live, anaphyactic, food allergies.
I'm thinking it's going to be a management issue, though, rather than a training issue. Anybody else deal with it?
