Food stealing, drug induced (jennie_c_d)

 Do I ever! (deal with it that is).

Child latches on cabinets, garbage on top of the fridge (sigh), baby gates, and so on.

I'm sure that Emma will not be as bad as Dakota.

I really, really hope that she doesn't get that bad. It's scary enough, as it is. I don't know how you deal with Dakota. Emma's got me going gray, fast, LOL!

I have yet to find a crate that she'll stay in. If she wants out, she just.... opens them! She's ridiculously smart, about that. She can even open doors. That's a big part of why this is startling me. I have no doubt that, if she wants to, she can open her crate, open the bedroom door, go into the kitchen, and open any cabinet or frigde, or whatever to get what she wants. She can easily jump onto the counter, or table, or any shelf. We do have food (like... bread) that would cause her to have serious issues, here. I am fortunate that I can take her to work, but I haven't, lately, because she's been in a really BAD mood. Usually, she's SO GOOD in the house, I haven't worried about leaving her loose. Now, though? Yeah.... food stealing just isn't going to work. I may have to turn her crate around so the door is against the wall (and I usually take the door OFF.... *sigh*)

 A friend of mine (who had a dog that could open crate doors) got some straps that you would use for a boat or to tie things down then she would wrap  and secure that around the crate, then face the crate towards the wall. I can't do that with dakota though because she actually breaks and bends the crate wires back until she gets out.

With me, pretty much anything that sits out, is on top of the fridge. Dakota is trying to figure out how to get up there from the counter next to it, but she hasn't been successful yet.

Would a piece of stiff copper wire twisted tightly keep her in her crate?  Not sure what type of crate you have but most dogs would have a hard time untwisting this, even Houdini dog Emma. Sorry you are having to go through this with her.

I'm a little afraid to really lock her in. I worry that she'd start trying to break crates. She hasn't come out of a crate, for food, yet. She just does it because she can. She also lets other dogs out, when she wants company.

I'm hoping that this will subside, some, with time? I don't know... if it doesn't, we're not going to be happy campers. I can feed her a bunch of veggies, but she doesn't seem to have a "full" switch ATM.

Given that she has some allergies (so it's more of an issue than just her wasting food or making messes), I might spend the $$$ on a really good box (like what military handlers and/or SchH people use). 

She's a ridiculously cute dog, with a HUGE sense of humor. She can really crack me up, even on a bad day. That's part of the reason I love her so much. She's suuuch a silly girl, sometimes

Lies, I will probably do that, if this doesn't subside. She will have to be on lock down, if she starts breaking into cabinets and such. It is a serious health issue, for her.
