    Mindless chatter Tuesday

Let's take a moment to honor our Veterans.  Many men and women have died so that we can live in this great country.

My heartfelt thanks to all who have served or are now serving and my sympathy to all who have lost a loved one.

***In honor of my grandfather (Army), father (Army), step-father (Coast Guard) and uncle (Army).

***In honor of my friend and her husband who both served in Iraq (Army) & her husband is back there now while she is home w/a 7mo old baby.

***In honor of my many ex-boyfriends who served in the Marines, Army, Navy.

***In honor of my friend who served (Army), and whose husband still serves (Navy) while she is home w/4 young boys.

***In special honor of our clients here at work (in their 80s) who have served in more than one war, some were POWs, some earned Purple Hearts and other medals, and all have a great respect and love for the country and its people for whom they fought.

***In honor of every veteran who still loves and respects this country and would risk their lives again to protect it.

    Thank you all.

One day of the year doesn't seem quite enough to thank the veterans. What huge sacrifices they've made for our sake. Their families also deserve our gratitude. I can't imagine the hardships they face.

I had yesterday off for the holiday and the best part about that was my commute in today was a breeze. It's also quiet in the entire building, so it should be a nice, productive day.

I always miss home (Winnipeg) on the 11th and 12th of November.  The 11th was the last full day that I lived in Canada.  DH, my fiance at the time, had come up to help me with the move but we were packed and ready to go.  We were downtown at 11AM and he was amazed that the radio went silent for a full minute and then played taps.  Then the booming of the cannons being fired at the legislative building could be heard.  Truly, a moment to remember.

The next day I left Canada, it was 8 years ago and seems like forever.  I love living in the Twin Cities and Minnesota is a generally great place, this is where I want to be now but that doesn't stop the nostalgia.

DH went back to work today, which I think we are both glad about lol.  I can get back to my normal routine without him asking for custard or something every 10 minutes.  The weather was nice for the park run today for a change, it's been miserable the last several days and today was chilly but at least the sun was out.  I had to buy Ben a new tennis ball on the way, he LOVES those oversized kong squeaky ones and went a little nutty when he saw me take that off the shelf.  Oddly, I can't find the normal sized kong squeaky balls anywhere, just the larger ones.  On the bright side he can only fit one of them in his mouth (he can get 2 normal sized tennis balls in there with zero effort).

OMG I need help!!!  I got a really good interview on Friday, it's 3 hours.  I HAVE to tell my current boss, b/c it's within the same organization and the protocol is that the VP is notified, and I assume the VP would ask or tell my boss, plus they'll notice me coming to work dressed really nice and then leaving 3 hours early.  Crap, I hate these types of conversations.  Harder than the interview!!!

Yuck to that whole situation.  I don't know what to advise.  On the one hand you have to tell your boss but didn't you say that you thought you would get fired if he knew you were looking for another job?  But if it's in the same organization how can he fire you without facing a big problem from the VP.  Whew, I'm so glad I work for a teeny, tiny company.

In my experience a little ego stroking can go a loooong way.  When you talk to your boss mention how much his/her leadership has meant to you, how what they taught you about xyz has prepared you for a new role in the organization.  Let them know that you are ready for a new role because of them.  Don't lie, just put a flourish on the truth.

They will be much more conducive to allowing a transfer if they feel a part of it.

Did I mention that the weather here today is totally depressing?

I told him right away, otherwise I'd worry myself sick all week.  He seemed kinda surprised at first, but then OK.  He knows I was only a guarantee until Christmas anyway, since DH is graduating next month and we might even move out of state.  He brought that up "are you applying even if you plan on moving?" and basically I figure this other job is perfect for me, so I can't let it go b/c I *might* be moving, I have to look at where I am right now.

YAY!  It sounds like it went better than you expected and it will be a weight off your shoulders.

Now you can relax and start thinking about the interview itself......   ooops...... sorry.

DH has been down and out with a virus since Sunday and is better today but I feel pretty lousy............must not get sick, must not get sick

Because we both feel a little green Bugsy got the leftover leg of lamb - you can imagine the happiness.  I also bought a deer antler for him to chew on - ridiculously priced but he is enjoying it a lot!

Things are really slow everywhere work-wise, kind of depressing

    Good luck Lies!!

VanMorrison it was very sunny here today I'll send you some Big Smile

Today is BORING! And I've got a puppy at my back.. Sandy has managed to move from my lap to behind my back on the chair.. Tongue Tied Silly puppy.. We're mastering "Sit" fairly fast, as long as I have treats. Lol Which is fine but 'Down" is causing us problems so I'm gonna pick up a clicker and start marking when ever she's laying down before I name it. *crosses fingers* Her housebreaking is coming along MUCH better and I'm starting to learn her cues though she still doesn't say anything when she needs to go out, but she's holding it longer during the day.

Tomorrow morning I'm gonna walk up to the local grocery store.. I worked there last summer for 3 months but left due to agrivated injuries from moving patio sets by my self.. They're looking for cashiers so I figure it can't hurt..  Wish me luck..
