    Rant (Joyce)

I drove DS #1 to work last night (he had to be there at 11:30 p.m.) and just as I was almost home, what do I see but two dogs meandering down the middle of  the street.  Granted there was almost no traffic at that time of night, they looked well cared for and were wearing collars, and seemed to know where they were going. The first thing I thought was that their owners were the type that opens the front door to let the dogs out at night so they can poop in someone elses yard instead of their own back yard - believe me, in this neighborhood everyone has a fenced back yard. I wound up coming to a complete stop to let them get across the street and it was pretty dark at that time of night since nobody still had their porch light on. That just annoys the heck out of me. How hard can it be to teach  the dog to go in his own yard and then pick it up the next morning???

That's actually fairly easy. It's a lot harder to train humans to contain their dogs. Now, that is a herculean task. I share your misery.

When you figure out the answer please let me know.

ALL my neighbors think it's ok for their dogs to use my yard as a bathroom. Apparently my flowers are good places to pee and poop on. I dont see my dogs going over the neighbors and using their pretty flower beds they work hard on every summer as a bathroom. Why? Because I dont let my dogs wander around doing whatever they want when they want.

Similar thing happened to me a few nights ago but I stopped and got out to try and read the dog's collar to return it, only to have the owner run out and call its name and yell at me!  I just got back in my car.  This was not by my house just on a random street where it was standing in the middle of the road... the lady was a few houses down.

The lady that lives across from me does this, and her dogs like to go in my yard and fight with Tank (my new dog) while in his OWN yard.  I hate her...

(BTW Im trying to get an update to yall, it will be long...)

When I was at the shelter this morning, I was taking the JRT out to walk. What do I see but a teenage chocolate Lab girl running loose, dragging her leash. She would NOT come up to me (not that I blame her--the JRT is a DA little Sh!t) and went dashing awasy with the resident LOOSE Pit teenage rtha tlives next door to the shelter.  Grrrrrr...

    LOL, funny story....

A new (nosey) neighbor moved in my parents neighborhood this summer. They hadn't seen/met me or Apollo. I brought Apollo to my parents house and as soon as he got out of my truck he pooped on my parents front lawn. I went into get a baggie and my Mom was on the phone. Well, the new neighbor took down my license plate and description and was calling my Mom to let her know a dog had pooped on their lawn. LOL!

I never see dogs running around my neighborhood and we live in the country.  Once in a blue moon my neighbors dog will come down off the hill and play with mine until I chase him home.  No road for him to go on, we share a driveway and then it forks off they live about 1/4 mile up the hill.  So I say go home and he meanders up his driveway.

Most of the dogs around just stay on there property -- maybe because everyone has so much of it.

I live in the country too Swissy. Even with all this space between neighbors their dogs still use the bathroom in my yard.

The dogs around here don't leave there yards.  Everyone here has 5 acres of there own and many inbetween so I guess the dogs don't have the moivation to go traveling.  Lucky for us and the dogs.

Where do you live? Im moving out there!!

I live in farm county, horse and cow and lots of deer and bear!  Come on over.  Seriously the town building ordinance is 5 acres minimum and just got raised to 10 acres - we do not want people building on top of each other.  Big Smile

One of my neighbors (directly across the street) has a sweet yellow lab and the dog is left out in the front yard most of the day and evening. The reason is that they put a pool and a ton of decking in their backyard, so the dog has no grassy area to go play or potty on. I really love the dog but we've had to shoo him out of our yard a few times.  I've also seen people walking by who thought he was a stray until the owners come out and call him home.

You'd hate living where we live then. I can literally look out my bathroom window and see right into my neighbors bedroom! We're maybe 20-40 feet apart.
