Red Ants

    Red Ants

Layla incurred several red ant bites yesterday, poor thing. (I'm treating with tea tree gel) I found the ant pile, but I'm out of ant killing granules. I know that many times after being treated the ants will scatter and form new mounds nearby. My question is, does anyone know if pouring super hot water on and around the mound is sufficient to kill them? I'm home sick today, so I can't run up to the store right now *and* I really don't have the $$ right now.

p.s. I thought about adding a little bleach to the water, but I don't want the dogs coming into contact with it and I think it would kill the grass.......

You may just have to wait til you can get more granules -- bleach *will* kill the lawn (that's what Round-up IS -- is bleach essentially).

Poor little gal -- red ant bites are no fun.

I feel so bad for her, she has 4 bites, but the tea tree is helping. The lawn is supposed to be treated regularly with my lawn service and I haven't seen any mounds until this one. I'll have to go get the granules tomorrow and steer clear of that spot with them. *And* speak with the lawn guy to make sure he's actually treating the yard. Oy!
