This could be a cheap Xmas for parents!!

There was a new toy inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame. Now if we can just convince the kiddos that it a 'must have' for under the tree. LOL

It's a wand, a snowman's arm, a drawing tool for sand, or, if you're an antagonistic little brother, a sword. Either way, it's a simple toy for complex imaginations. CNN tells us that the ecofriendliest toy of all - the simple stick - has earned a place of honor in the National Toy Hall of Fame. The stick joins such favorites as Mr. Potato Head, the kite and Atari as a favorite toy of all time for children (and canines).

"It's very open-ended, all-natural, the perfect price -- there aren't any rules or instructions for its use," said Christopher Bensch, the museum's curator of collections. I'm willing to bet that a greener toy doesn't exist.

    What toy would you nominate?

Here is a list of toys already in the Hall. The only one I have not played with is Candy Land. What is it?

Love this list.  So many of those were under my Christmas tree when I was little.  I wonder why UNO isn't listed, or a Big Wheel.  I rode my Big Wheel until the front wheel split.  Those were some seriously good times.

Candy Land is a board game, sort of a different version of Chuttes and Ladders.  It was played religiously at my grandma's house.  Until I was old enough to understand Spades anyway!

That list sure does bring back some great memories.  Easy Bake Oven was a highly coveted gift in my little childhood circle!  My sister finally got one for Christmas one year and I was soooooo jealous.

    Thanks for the memories!

Where is MECCANO on this list?  Mind you thats rubbish now, you can only make one thing out of it!  Used to be they deliberately did the instructions wrong so kids had to throw them away and work it out for themselves!

My parents favorite Christmas gift for us, and we got it every year, was a "do-ti-do"  Basically it was either a toilet paper cardboard roll or paper towel cardboard roll or best yet a wrapping paper cardboard roll!  You held it to your mouth and play the "Do-ti-do" song.  It was a great inexpensive gift, lol.   I liked the wrapping paper one best cause it was great to hit my brother with and I didnt get in trouble like the time I hit him in the head with the curtain rodDevil

I must admit that we have carried on the tradition by making sure all the Grandkids get "Do-ti-do's" for Christmas.  The best part was that Mom would always wrap it so pretty and we would just know it was something besides a "DO-TI-DO"

The Shape Sorter should certainly be on there as well as the Lite Brite.  But I'm guessing the Cabbage Patch Kids would fall under doll and any stuffed animal will probably be lumped in with Teddy Bear.
