    Please shut up already...co-worker rant

I work in a small office.  We have our own space, but the setup is open - we don't have complete walls or doors.  I call them glorified partitions.  I always have a ton of paperwork to do and try very much to avoid office female groupie stuff.  I don't have time to goof off and I'm pretty sure my boss expects us to act like grownups in his absence.

So the boss and the office manager are not here today, it's me, two other regular ladies, and one other lady (who normally does not work in the office) doing prep for a new store we are opening.  The 3 of them are buddies and for the last 2 1/2 hours have been yelling to each other back and forth across the office.   The non-office lady needs help using the computer, so there is that yelling, followed by a lot of giggling.  And she talks to herself very loudly about what she is doing, like everyone else in the office needs to hear it.  And she is saying constantly - you must think I'm an idiot.  Umm...yes, I do.

I have a radio station on, am partially hard of hearing, and still having difficulty tuning them out.  Two of the women are 51+, the other, mid-30s, but today are acting like high schoolers.  And everyone wonders why I prefer to work Fridays when none of them are here.

We have the same type of setup, but I work with all men.  The only yelling we do is hurling insults (jokingly) at each other to relieve stress.  Awesome.  I'm so glad I don't work with women!

Up until this job, I've always worked in larger offices. I've always gotten along with everyone but there were time when I'd have given anything for a door to shut. Now I work in an office with just my boss and myself and he's rarely here. I've been asked many times how I can handle being alone and the quiet and I just smile real big. I love it!! Stick out tongue

Man can I relate!  It's just SO much fun speaking with a traumatized crime victim with hooting and hollering and laughing in the background!  So professional!  Hmm

I can totally relate!  We don't even have partitions between our desks - completely open work space.  The two girls next to be are the biggest chatter-boxes and it's always about non-work stuff.  I pretty much just live with my iPod on :)

OH I can relate, I used to work in a small office with 15 or so 20 something year olds, all of us around the same age. There were always a few of them that were just plain loud and yelled across cubicles to everyone else. Of course we all joked around and such, but there were those few that always went too far with things, even when the boss was around. One day I was on a very important call and this one girl just kept yelling loudly across the room and I had to keep asking the guy to repeat himself on the other line. Finally I just put him on hold and yelled at her to be quiet, the girls just froze, they never heard me raise my voice like that before since I'm just quiet natured. haha. I do miss working there with everyone but oh, how I do not miss those crazy days with those girls.

Hey hey hey now.  Believe me, my DH, who works with a male majority, has more bitchitude in his work place than my mostly female work place!

LOL  I work with all guys.  And I love it, much more so than working in a female dominated place like I did before.  The guys tend to be more humorous.  HOWEVER, let something tick them off...and yea...I think bitchitude is an excellent word for it.

I SOOOOOO totally hate working with someone who is an audio-processor.  It drives me in-freakin-sane!!!  ZIP IT and think inside your head, not out your mouth!!  When I need to concentrate, I am totally silent and FOCUSed.  Those types of people make me want to hurl a stapler at them!  Or better yet, staple their lips together.
