it's time to share a secret

not mine, Cleo's. Cleo is a stalwart dog, very brave...not given to hysterics. Stoic and steady nerves....in the face of vacuum's, thunder, fireworks even.

But....Cleo has a secret....a secret fear. She has a nemesis. one that lurks here in her very home, one she fears so much she will avoid entering rooms even if the person she loves most is inside said room...because "it" might get her. She is not proud...and would not be happy about you all knowing this...but still...you guys know me. If there is an opportunity to embarass a family member, I am there....

So....here we go. Enjoy...

Is it in there? I am NOT coming in...no...no I won't..

You know I am taking a big risk here...IT, is in this room..I can SEE it..over there...

OMG OMG I cannot believe I am doing this....quick quick run past...no eye contact...

Okay okay lay down I got it...

WHOA...it moved I swear...it's coming for me...

WHAT is this fearsome thing? Why it's our little brown kitty, Mama Cat.

She terrifies Cleo and she knows it. She chases Cleo anytime she feels like it....and LAUGHS about it afterwards...I swear. Cats, are evil...especially this one. There's no reason for it...Cleo never has done anything to her...she just doesn't like her...and doesn't like to let Cleo forget her place.

Days, weeks, MONTHS will go past with no incidents. Then WHAM! She shoots out from under a table and SPITS and yowls and Cleo runs like the devil is after her. It is HILARIOUS really..a 92lbs dog running from this 8lbs housecat. Cleo does not generalize. She see's our other cat, and she plays with and bothers him to no end. But she see's MamaCat and her entire demeanor changes and she minces around....which only makes things worse LOL. You can see how different she looks in these pics, body language wise?

Poor Cleo! Tasha says she knows how you feel. I've been taking her to my sister's to introduce her to their new kitty and that kitty beats up Tasha so bad. Tasha just wants to sniff her and find out what she is, but that little kitty puffs up, hisses and swats at her. Even when Tasha is laying quietly next to me on the couch. Pamona will race up, swat at her nose and take off running. No claws so I think she's progressing to play, but Tasha just gives me this look of please get me out of this place! lol...

lol...what is SO ridiculous is that the cat never even TOUCHES Cleo..now the other one will box her nose the entire time they play...but MamaCat just huffs and makes noise and CHARGES. I guess the forward advance is what does it? Maybe just a vibe that she means business who knows.

It's something I try to head off but cats being cats....where she is in the house at a given time is a complete guess really. She has great camoflauge and knows how to use it on humans and dogs both.

It's so odd...she's a nice cat, a real purr box, and has no issue with the hounds at all. Animals...go figure!

Oh Cleo, you poor thing and now to be publicly humiliated, well it's just too much. LMBO at those pictures. You caught the whole thing perfectly.

Mama cat is used to a certain look of dog and Cleo doesn't look anything like a Beagle. My cat loves all large black dogs because he was raised with black Labs. Any other dog is given the swat in the face and the cold shoulder!

Poor Cleo! Just goes to show you that "alpha" is all about attitude and nothing about size! Her facial expressions always crack me up, who knew a dog's face could be so comical! Seriously, she should be on greeting cards or calendars.
