We had our first agility class this afternoon at the local park. I knew Maze had potential but I never had shoved in my face before (in a good way). I mean WOW! She jumps like a pro after being shown twice. She's learning the weaves. Still a bit iffy but it's something she's not used too although she did do them BACKWARDS! Butt first, she backed them up so we decided, once she learns them properly, we're gonna teach her to do them backwards. Her go around was amazing. I hadn't had a chance to proof it outside so it was her first time doing it with distractions and she flew around. Once she picked up the target, she kept landing nose first waiting for her treat.
While we're doing this, the local soccer team is having their practice at the other end of the field. So Maze is having to work around flying soccer balls, kids screaming and people shouting. As well as we were drawing a crowd. Lol.
My trainer as decided that I'm gonna compete with Maze. I have no say in this. Lol. I've basically been told that if I let Maze's talent and willingness to work, then I'm hiding/ruining a born agility dog.
Also she wants to get Maze to the level so she can be used as a demo dog at the local events. Maze has picked up stuff in minutes that it's taken a few members years to do and they still don't have down pat. So as of today Maze and I are now official members of the local K9 Club . And my trainer is GIVING me a set of wooden weave poles to pratice with during the week! *does a dance*
So now she's passed out on the chair, finally worn out! And I get some peace and quiet. I'll have to get some copies of the pictures from the next lesson. My trainer wants to get a picture of Maze going over the jumps
My homework thou is hard. I've got to come up with a word that I don't use everyday to use as Maze's emergency recall.. But I can't think of anything.. I don't want to use "Check" because I use that with Alex when ever he's looking for something.. I was thinking maybe using a beer name or something. Lol.
