My son is getting married at an all inclusive resort in the Carribean in three weeks. There are thirty some odd people going, most of whom booked through the same travel agent. I would guess most paid by credit card, and probably paid last March. We never received any official information (other than confirmation of dates and flight times way back when), and my son's mother -in -law - to - be has been calling the agent recently and not receiving any call backs. She tracked the owner down, and the owner agreed to meet her today to give her "confirmations" -- whatever that means. She was told that the travel agency was in receivership and that all assets were frozen. She (mother in law to be) was told by the owner that our "stuff" was all set, but other, later booking people might not be. A representative of the resort was at the travel agency when we booked.
Does anyone know when a travel agent would pay a resort? I wonder if we'll arrive and be told we owe money? For thirty people, it's probably close to $100M.
Thoughts?
