    dog food buisness....

How hard would it be to start a small dog food business? It's crossed my mind a few times...... I was thinking of something superior and selling them at my local feed stores and vets. I live in S.California and can imagine this product going crazy with all the celebrities around here. It would be the top of the line product out there.

    What do you think?

You'd have to research it. What sort of plant you'd need, permits, what supplies cost and what availability they have. You would probably have to hire some sort of scientific expert to proclaim your food supplies what a dog needs, etc.

Then there is the marketing, packaging, getting it to market, etc.

    A lot of work!

I've thought about that kind of thing too... I thought it would be an excellent idea because I'm close to a degree in Business Management and my fiancee is close to a degree in BioChemistry. Perfect match right?

But in addition to all the work mentioned, some things sort of make my shy away.

The biggest thing is what to do if something goes wrong and a bunch of dogs (or even one) gets sick and someone makes a big show out of it. Then what? Pay out a bunch of money?
Where will you make the food? How will you package it so that it stays fresh? What preservatives will you add, if any? How can you convince people that your dog food is better?(lots of "celebrities" aren't too clever) How will you get the product on the shelves?
There are tons of complications to running any business, and there are lots that I'm sure I haven't thought of.

It may be worth a try if you have the money and time. Maybe you'll be a great success! [:)]
But things can easily turn the other way as well. Just gotta be aware of it.
